I will be an international applicant from the UK. Will taking SATs/ACTs in a gap year and then applying in that gap year affect my chances. I haven’t prepared this year and am focusing on Oxbridge. I am looking to apply to Harvard, Yale, Wharton, Stanford and maybe Princeton.
If you don’t take any classes during that gap year you should be fine.
Do you think volunteering, tutoring etc will look good in regards to ECs.
@Jimbus89 Any form of volunteering and tutoring will look good. It would look extra good if it pertained to your major.
Like an aspiring artist volunteering at Guggenheim or an aspiring pianist giving free documented lessons to the homeless.
@Hamlin being a UK student I am not 100% aware of how much to talk about your potential in your application, and hence I wondered whether you could enlighten me in that regard.
“how much to talk about your potential in your application”
I’m not sure where you’re getting at-
Do you mean on your essay? You shouldn’t write about how much potential you have… write about something that shows them the real YOU. Your potential is shown on your GPA, EC and Standardized testing.
@Hamlin I meant potential major, sorry I left out a key piece of information.
