I need to pick out a toilet and know that I want a bidet. They all seem to be this new style with no tank. I’m thinking it will be great visually to save space, I’m just having a hard time getting used to the look. My biggest question is maintenance. I feel like I’m constantly going into the tank to fix the chain or the flapper. Are these pieces even in the new style? If not, is that a pro or con.
If you’ve switched over, are you happy? (This is going into a remodel and there is electric to accommodate it )
Seems that Consumer Reports has ratings of “Smart Toilets” (i.e. those with built in bidet). All of those that they rated are of similar style. They rated the toilets on solid waste removal, noise, bowl cleaning, and bidet cleaning. You may want to check on the web site if you have a subscription, or buy a web subscription.
A relative has the Toto with bidet, and says it’s terrific. Are you considering that? It’s more expensive than the ones you posted, but Toto is a top brand.
After reading some Reddit posts, I think I’m going to go with the base Toto non-integrated bidet (Drake model). You still get the classic toilet look (with tank) and it’s supposed to be a powerhouse. It’s under $300 today on Prime Days. Then,I got the Drake washlet bidet seat (about $350). Apparently, they are made to go together, so you won’t see the hoses or lines (one of the things I didn’t like about our add-on seat). I think this eases my mind about parts breaking. Toto is a well-known company, and the seat and toilet are separate, so if one goes, I won’t have to replace the whole thing.
Toto is the best, and the Washlet is awesome if a little expensive. We have the Drake model on most of our toilets. Toto valve replacements are easy, take 10 minutes to change.
Ours are 23 years old and look like new. They still have the original soft close seats.
