I’m trying to make my school decisions now that I got my acceptances (and rejections)

I’m doing a computer engineering major and I was put into Sixth College.
I’m also planning on doing pre-med…yes weird combo
anyway so I would like to talk to someone at UCSD to get more info (and also sell me the school)… most importantly i’d like to know how possible my academic path will be at ucsd and how the school can accomodate me etc…

so who do I want to make an appointment with?:
someone at admissions office?
someone at school of engineering?
someone at sixth college?
other??

you might be able to get some information or a quick meeting through the office of admissions, but don’t expect them to take a lot of their time trying to “sell” UCSD to you. we’ve been at capacity for years, the presence or absence of one student isn’t really going to make a big difference to them.

from your post, it sounds like you want the school to bend over backwards to “accommodate” you. unless you have some special needs, you’re not getting any special treatment. at this point in time you should be excited about your prospects and conducting your own research, and not sit back in your chair and wait for schools to throw themselves at you.

yeah the only way colleges throw themselves at you is through their scholarship offers or campus-visit days. Other than that you are just a number.

what I mean, though, is if i can meet with someone there and see if (and how) my path of education fits in their school

your “path of education” at ANY school is this: you attend. you successfully fulfill their requirements. you graduate. within that, everything is up to you. the diploma is a privilege, and not a right.

i still don’t get what you’re trying to get at. your major and college graduation requirements are clearly spelled out in multiple places on the UCSD website. premed requirements can be found at any med school’s website. if you’re only concerned about how your schoolwork is going to be planned out, you don’t need an admissions guide to walk you through that.

nevermind. you’re so stuck on the fact that i should find it myself and that I’m even rude for asking that you’re not willing to pitch in any help.
forget i asked…

Hey are you going to admit day? maybe someone could help you then… (though I really don’t know)

Royal,

Look, it comes down to this. It’s not impossible to do both your major and pre-med. You’ll have to do your college GE requirements, your major requirements, AND any extra classes you’ll need to qualify yourself for med school. It’s not going to be a cake walk. Getting in touch with a Sixth College academic adviser would be your best bet on figuring it out. (I’m sure you can find a link to thank on your own time.)

And don’t give astrina such a hard time. She, and many of the rest of us, are doing our best to answer your questions.

cheer and sterling thanks for your help.
You answer sterling (“Sixth College academic adviser”) is exactly what I was looking for
thanks
