Talked with a eerily...

I recently talked with somebody who eerily seemed to represent all of my future goals for the most part.

Let me first describe myself:
HS student
Previously wanted to do bio major in undergrad, but now want to do chemical engineering
Interested in retinal eye surgery
Interested in several med schools, including WUStL

Now, let me describe who I met:
Fellowship fellow
Did bio major, then switched to chemical engineering in undergrad at MIT
Currently doing fellowship in retinal eye surgery
Attended WUStL MD/PHD program (I am not so sure about wanting to do such a long program myself)

Anyways, I learned that if you just follow your passion, then you will succeed no matter how hard your major is.

Anybody else got inspirational stories about meeting your epitome/clone?

Unfortunately, most of the people who are like me (ie from CA and wanting to go to a UC for med school) didn’t get in. lol The previous post-bac in my lab got lots of good out of state interviews (Columbia, JHU, etc.) but only two interviews from UC’s and didn’t get into a single school in California :(

o.O, if they got interviews from columbia, jhu, etc. they must have atleast gottten an interview from ucd o.O…norcalguy, you r making cali residents feel absoluetely hopeless =/

norcalguy, do you know if UCs favor UC applicants over Cali residents that go OOS? I"m a Cali res, and I’m gonna be at WashU next year, and there’s a couple of UCs that are high up on my preferred list…

They damn well shouldn’t! haha I don’t think they do. It’s your residency status that’s important, not where you went for undergrad.
