Talking about researach in an interview

I probably want to do research in college but don’t want to make a career out of it. What is the best way to emphasize research experience without being undercut by the question “So why aren’t you going to get a PhD?”

Very few schools will ask you that question. I got asked it once – “Were you interested in our MSTP program?” – and the answer was, “Absolutely, but the truth is that I really wanted to focus my time on the clinical aspects of medicine. I plan on being active in research during medical school, but not so much so that I was looking for a PhD.”
