My daughter is finally getting around to putting together parts of her resume in Naviance, but we’re not sure how to tally hours spent on Scouts BSA. She joined in March of 2019, and since then she’s done regular meetings almost every week (1.5 hours each), about 8 weekend campouts per year (24-40 hours each), two weeks of summer camps (144 hours/week), a trip to Philmont (330 hours + 25 hours group training/prep sessions), and probably 50 hours of volunteering, plus she’s spent a lot of hours doing merit badges online since COVID hit and wiped out a lot of her other activities. The badges have varied widely in amount of time needed to complete, from several hours (over a period of time) for the Pets badge to 44+ hours for the Hiking merit badge. Naviance wants “average hours per week.” Do we add all that up and divide it by the number of weeks she’s been in Scouts BSA, or is it asking only for the true ‘weekly’ commitment of meetings?
Average out. But it is the average of time spent on activities. Back out sleeping, eating, bathroom, etc.
