TAMU Class of 2023 - Admission Decisions/Discussion

@AggieMomhelp So in order to apply to the university studies- business degree my sophomore year, what do I apply for when I choose my major for PSA? I was thinking more about the administration/management side of Business as my major when I originally applied to Mays

@AggieMomhelp my current credits are all dual credit, and they’re the prereqs (English, Gov, Hist, Speech). My intended major is a BS in Econ

@reddy2go You might also consider Agribusiness. At A&M, you would take some of your classes in the Mays Business School but be under the school of Agriculture. I had friends who got Agribusiness or AgEconomics degrees and got jobs in with companies that are not Ag related. It is a business degree from Texas A&M but it does not say “Mays”.

@waitingAgg you’ll need to complete the math requirement. For my freshman son it’s Math 140 and 142. But confirm this because I think they are now wanting the new class to have Math 151 (engineering math) going forward. Also need both Econ classes (202 and 203) with a C or better. And minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

@WaitingAgg If you have been accepted to Tarleton already, they will simply change the wording in your file to denote that you are PSA. You will not have to re-apply.

Still “in review”.

We should finish freshmen review by mid-March so be sure to check your AIS page from time to time (end of week is probably best). It will be clear on your AIS regarding any offer we may be able to make to you.

@DestinationTAMU I haven’t seen any gateway offers. the program sounds awesome! I’m hoping my son receives that offer
he’s still in review too.

@reddy2go It’s not necessary to pick your intended major at the PSA school. It doesn’t bind you. If you’re wanting Management future, you could do psychology or sociology. these could end up being your minors at TAMU with the US-Business degree. OR, Human Resource development has a major with PSA. Sky’s the limit my friend. Look at the different courses offered for these plans and see what interests you.

@AggieMomhelp how would you recommend going about this, because I’m a first generation student and have no idea on what to do

Wait I realized if offered PSA I don’t think I can participate in it because Econ isn’t a participating department in this. Dang it!!

@WaitingAgg I just looked through the major options that are offered by PSA and Econ is one of them!

@reddy2go where did you see that at? I used this as my reference: http://admissions.tamu.edu/psa

Econ does not participate. Best to just go to CC and transfer when you meet requirements!

if I have econ as my first choice major and I can’t get PSA what will I get?

@soc2434 Even if your major does not participate in PSA does not mean you wouldn’t get that offer. They could still offer you PSA and it would be up to you to choose a new major etc. A&M does not use your major in admission decisions.

Hi All - My son is a freshman in Engineering at TAMU CS and he is very happy. However, it is a very difficult program. He is doing fine (3.2 average his first semester), but there is not much individual attention. He tends to learn from older friends. I think UT Dallas is a great option too, at least for STEM majors kind of students, and Texas Tech does have a good engineering program. If I can answer any questions I am happy to give opinions. Best of luck to all!!

@soc234 I would imagine it wouldn’t change the PSA admissions offer ( if that’s what they give you)
more then up to you to decide if that’s the pathway you wish to consider/take. Several people on this forum have mentioned receiving offers that don’t have connecting PSA pathways to their major choice - so I think it becomes a rethink on the applicant’s part :frowning:

@soc2434 You would probably need to do the PTA program, not PSA so you are guaranteed admission into Econ.

does econ fill up like psychology/business/engineering?

It’s a popular major but not sure it “fills” up. But if you did PTA and completed requirements, you’re guaranteed.
