TAMU Class of 2023 - Admission Decisions/Discussion

@blinnbound I just PM you!

My son received his PSA offer from TAMU. We are interested in him attending Tarleton (as he is too). He has to complete specific course requirements from the approved TAMU program-specific degree plans, 24 transferable hours in residence at a single system school during Spring and Fall, maintain the GPA and submit transfer application by March 2020 deadline. Ok, great got it. However, when I pull up the ā€œcourse requirementsā€ it says he needs 8 hours of approved math courses and 8 hours of approved science courses. Will he need to take these 16 hours of ā€œrequiredā€ courses BEFORE he can start the PSA program or can he take them while attending Tarleton?

Received PSA last night. I’m highly disappointed. I’m going to take Arkansas’s scholarship and run. Please PM me if you have useful information on uark!

@CypressMom Are the bold classes on his PSA degree plan 2 four hour math classes and 2 four hour science classes? If so, I think that is what they are referring to. Neither of my sons had to take any classes before starting at the system schools. Those bold print classes are the most important things on that list.

Hi everyone – I have been following this board since August 2018 and wish to thank everyone for their contributions. All helpful. My DS applied 8/6/18 received UIN# on 8/8/18. Offered PSA just yesterday.

TAMU ranked him ranked in the 3rd Q from a prestigious OOS school that does not rank. He has a 3.55 GPA, a 1320 SAT and a 27 ACT. Four year dual-sport athlete. Had offers to play at football at multiple D2&3/NAIA schools but is choosing to put Fball behind him and focus on a attaining a superior education. Great choice on his part. He wrote what I considered to be stellar essays. He called the admissions counselor and expressed his great interest. He had been given a personal tour of the campus from an exec at TAMU, had former student connections, and as well, met with the dean for his selected program. He wrote thank you notes. He followed up. He did everything right.

The rub is this…just as with all of you, my DS is a fine young man with great heart, and has made proper choices in his life, as his school records, and his essays, and his zeemee videos, and everything else he has done, demonstrate. He is more than a number, or a set of numbers, as are ALL of you on this board waiting and wondering. What TAMU has done wrong here, is tortured and perhaps lost out on a bunch of EXCELLENT young men and women by categorizing their acceptances on a game of stats. Numbers do not always signify the quality of a person or a student. Numbers signify only a part of the equation. My DS selected (months ago), a school that selected HIM for who he is and what he has achieved. They chose HIM. I could not be more proud that he will be attending Baylor, a school that has a human eye in every acceptance decision, and a human heart that backs it up. TAMU algorithms are just that.

All that said, to those of you still waiting, or disappointed that you received PSA, remember that no matter what, you have value and are to be commended for coming this far. Maybe consider a school that gives YOU more consideration. Best of luck to all!

Thank you @2xAggieMom - looks like he may have to take 2 courses this summer

@WaitingAgg My daughter applied this weekend and she got accepted on Monday. Even before receiving transcripts and test scores.

Talked to admissions. Clicking the schools is not binding.

For McAllen, I received the following information when I asked how soon my daughter could transfer from McAllen to CStat. (Should she be offered McAllen)

"She would actually be considered a change of major due to the fact that McAllen students are already considered Texas A&M students. You can find the change of major requirements here: http://tap.tamu.edu/TransitionAcademicPrograms/media/Gallery/CHANGE-OF-MAJOR-Jan(2019)_1.pdf

These are the requirements for a change of major for all of our majors. Ultimately she could get these requirements met fairly quickly with it potentially being possible for her to relocated to College Station within a couple semesters.

When she does the change of major she would select the same major but simply change the location where they are taking the courses, in this case College Station. This would be a process they would work out with their department once they are ready to come to the College Station location"

@AggieDreamin how long did it take for her to receive her myblinn information? And how was she notified of acceptance?

DS will not take PSA. Got accepted to Southwestern, UTD, U of H, LSU and several others with 250K worth of academic scholarship offers so far.

Congratulations - we have received your application for admissions and you are accepted to Blinn College for the Fall 2019 term.

Please complete the following steps to access your myBlinn account: …

@tamu23plz also decided on UARK because of the opportunities in Walton and NRTA scholarship money. But I can’t PM yet bc I read you have to post 15 times to see that option.

Just out of curiosity… but how do you know you received the PSA offer?? Is it supposed to say you did somewhere? Thank you!

@pleasehelpme15 It shows up on your AIS via your Howdy account. Where you used to see Complete and In Review, it will instead have an offer of PSA (don’t know what the verbiage is - I’m sure someone here will chime in  ).

@JaceyK ahh okay thank you so much! :)))

Thanks so much for all of the great information and help during this very long process. It’s not what we had hoped for but life sometimes requires detours to reach our destination. My daughter traveled the same path and now that she’s a junior, she says she would not have changed a thing. Best of luck of everyone!

My DS also going to UARK.

I’m still in review with my change major still there… what could this mean?
