At this point, if I had not heard from A&M, I would be putting down a deposit at another school (if that is an option), particularly if there was a housing issue to worry about. We accepted TAMU back in November when DD was accepted even though we were still waiting on numerous other decisions, just to be safe. There is no reason not to, you are not “taking someones spot” by doing so, although I know that some feel that is the case. You have earned the spot and have a right to hold it until the decision date of May 1; conversely remember you have until May 1st to make a decision, don’t feel pressured to have it all figured out now! Again, I firmly believe that having a back up plan or alternative avenue is vital. For sure, don’t give up hope or withdrawal your application, it ain’t over until it’s over, but cover your behind too!
There are 85 review posters who are still waiting decisions. This does not include Engineering.
With the published release date of March 1, why is everyone giving up already?
The wait for review applicants is always long and deep into February, and in past years, there wasn’t a natural disaster that extended the application deadline by a month.
It’s not over until it’s over. This wait for a decision is only one tiny aspect of stress of attending a large, competitive university. Everything is competitive, from buying a sports pass (they sell out and you don’t get into any sports without one unless someone not using theirs lets you have their ticket), Parking spaces in lots and garages are limited and sell out, room selection is competitive, joining many clubs/organizations is competitive through an application/interview process and many are turned away, registration is competitive and sometimes you just may not get the class you need that semester, which puts off the corresponding upper level class you need for your degree program. It took my son until Add/Drop in Jan to get 2 required courses for Spring for his degree plan and his registration opened in Nov. Even getting off campus housing can be competitive if you want to live in certain areas (northgate for walking to engineering buildings) and in the most affordable places/floor plans. The place my son rented with 3 others, the floorplan was sold out by end of Nov his freshman year. 3 months after he just started.
Don’t throw in the towel just yet, everyone. It is hard seeing other’s receive decisions but that doesn’t mean yours is toast. Hang In There!!!
Just called Admissions office to ask of they are going to post something on their website when all offers have been made. She assured me that everyone will receive a response on their AIS and they hope to have everything out next week. Still waiting…
My daughter was offered Gateway this morning! Whoop!!
Guys, full admit is still possible. As Thelma2 said… don’t throw in the towel. Back up plans are great but don’t lose hope!!
Friend got Gateway today for Communications I believe.
ACT 25
Good EC’s
@Thelma2 did you need anymore information?
@soccer19310 do you know what their gpa was? I have the same act score and haven’t heard so just wondering. Thanks!
So my son was accepted into Gateway Program this morning. he applied for Mays Business School with Econ as second choice. He applied in July 2017. He had a 29 on ACT and 3.6 GPA - second quarter rank in his class. Leadership, Eagle scout, volunteer, community service, etc. While i understand that students who successfully complete the gateway program are guaranteed admission in the fall, they have to apply as a transfer student to their desired major/ program. Any past experience or current knowledge on how likely this is the happen? and the same with housing - it indicates they are not guaranteed housing in the fall - they have to apply , but not sure when - after completion of gateway or now?
@Ross2729 What you provided was great. Thanks!
@gigem99 Congratulations on Gateway! Would you please share your stats?
@boysarebest @Zeronote @sbk90078 Would you please share your stats?
Been following this thread for a while and thought I would post since we are still waiting (like so many others). If nothing else it helps with the stats. Hoping we hear something next week.

Okay just talked to 2 people that went through this. You should be able to apply for housing right now like fully admits and blinn team. You are guaranteed admission if you make the gpa. No applying. Both people I talked to went into general studies in the fall and then changed major for spring! Hope this helps. Oh and they said the classes they take are basic and most everyone makes the required gpa.
@teliperez when were you accepted? Was it recent or a while back?
CONGRATULATIONS ON GATEWAY to everyone who has received a decision!! WHOOP!!
If you accept the offer, make SURE that you put in your best effort in your 2 Summer session classes, you only get that one chance. Don’t think that “oh, I only HAVE to make a C”, put in your BEST effort. You will have more free time and distractions than you have had in High School and will not have your parents around to help you manage your time. And the classes may not be ones that you are particularly interested in but you still have to make the grades. And the info may be in a condensed version since it is Summer school so the info could come at a very fast pace.
An average rule of thumb is for a typical Semester is that if you are earning 3 hours of credit, you will need a minimum of 3 hours of studying time outside of class each week for each class just to keep up. Probably more study time is required for a Summer class, I don’t really know. Put in more time and your grades will be higher.
College classes are harder than most HS classes. If you just put in the effort that you think you would have had to put in to make a C in High School classes, you might come up very short. I am surprised that Gateway only requires a 2.0 for completion as if someone struggles to make a 2.0 that does not bode well for their future classes at TAMU.
Blinn-TEAM (regular, not the Engineering Blinn at Bryan) now requires a 2.5 gpa which is down from the 3.0 that was required at the beginning of Fall 2017. But the Blinn-TEAM pathway to Mays requires a 3.8 gpa!
Go to EVERY CLASS!! Study first, socialize afterwards and hopefully you will succeed!
WHOOP!
@teliperaz Congratulations! When did you receive your acceptance?
@Thelma2
