@TXagghopeful1 campus village!
No news is still good news! We haven’t had a big wave of full admits yet. They’ve e done Blinn team, eng alternatives and now gateway. Hang in there y’all. Don’t lose hope!!!
So close to the end and then we can start chatting about NSC!!!
how does the PTA (Program for Transfer Admission) work? will you recommend for an arch major?
I’m sure someone can answer better @texasperson, but I did ask the admissions counselor about this yesterday. It sounded pretty interesting. You attend any community colleges basically and sign a contract that if you satisfy the core and transfer requirements, you have a guaranteed transfer. There are gpa requirements by department. You don’t have to sign the contract in advance and you can do so at cstat or at any psc. He did indicate that while youbshould get that list of requirements for the dept you are interested in, that in can be beneficial to wait until you have some classes under your belt to sign the contract. It is a contract and very hard to swap majors once you’ve signed it. It can be signed and completed on the same day. Obviously Mays and Engineering are going to be different for this. Not sure about others.
I had never heard of PTA. that is such a great program after reading about it. These are the colleges/majors under this program. 30 hours after HS is nothing.
College of Agricultural and Life Sciences
College of Architecture
College of Education and Human Development
College of Geosciences
College of Liberal Arts
College of Science
Then under each college above they have the different majors and required courses. There really are so many ways to become a full fledged Aggie if that is your goal! Thanks for bringing this up you guys. Learn something new every day!
@camrynashley hang in there … I think most of us are still waiting!
Is it bad that I am still waiting to hear from A&M Admissions? I am a Kinesiology major with a minor in Broadcasting and Journalism. Many of my classmates have found out before me and I have around the same credentials as them, yet they have found out (and they also have a harder major which does not make sense). Does anyone have any answers as to why it is taking so long and when I should hear by?
@eemilyyyy1 It is really hard to say why some take longer than others. Because it is such a comprehensive holistic review, we don’t know someone’s whole story; so while some seem to get in with lower stats or equal, there could be something that sealed the deal for them.
With that being said… Admissions looks at every single application in its entirety no less than 2 times, regardless of anything else. So that student that got a 19 on the ACT and is 2nd quarter still gets the same look and attention to detail as someone with a 29 and top quarter. It’s great but it also makes the waiting harder.
I’m just thankful I am not in the position of accepting or denying any students. I don’t think I could do it. If it were up to me I’d let everyone in, lol… which is why it’s not up to me!
Yeah the process seems kindof at a random. Do you know as to when they will send out the next wave?
UT Dallas OOS is about $51k/yr all included. $29k/yr for in state. You are admitted to your major though at UTD no waiting a year to be accepted into a major.
TAMU CS looks like also $51k/yr for OOS. Not sure what TAMU Galveston engineering actually is for OOS.
Strict rules to meet TX residency status unless you get a $4000 competitive scholarship at TAMU or can meet other waiver categories. $1000 competitive scholarship at UTD get waiver.
@FourR sorry, missed this direct to you.
@eemilyyyy1 No idea but if I had to make my best guess, I’d say next week.

My counselor from high school has told me that the prospective student centers senior regional advisor is advocating for me to get GATEWAY.
Sorry if I posted a little late.
If my major changed yesterday evening to Gateway for this summer does anyone know when it will change from my application is under review to YOU ARE ACCEPTED?
@mamadmr Should be tonight or this weekend. Not long! Congrats! I think the Gateway program is the best!
no change on anything for us. So assuming its not good. Maybe we need to revisit cap at UT Austin or put down deposits at the other schools so we dont miss out on housing.
@mamma3g I’m not feeling it. I assume they have few spots left for full, team and gateway (just my guess). Trying to stay positive for him but I do not have a good feeling. He is not interested in PSA, he doesn’t think it’s for him. I’m giving it until the 1st then I’m going to go ahead and put down a deposit elsewhere.
So far Ive been accepted to OLLU and I got capped by UT Austin and denied by Baylor. However TAMU is my #1 choice so Im hoping for good news.
@mamma3g @CyMom4 Last year, we covered our bases and put down a few deposits at other schools while we waited on TAMU. I just made sure I had a very clear understanding of when the cancel date was for each school. I think we ended up losing $75 to one of the schools (the others we received a 100% refund), but it was worth it to know we had solid options if TAMU didn’t work out.
@mamma3g @CyMom4 I put down a deposit for Baylor just to be safe. We are in a waiting game here no matter what because he has applied to several Ivy’s that don’t announce decisions until April 1st. I guess that makes the wait for TAMU a little more bearable … I know it will still be WEEKS before we hear from the others. BUT, it would still be nice to know one way or the other. I didn’t realize this would be so stressful …
