We attended a prospective student meeting in College Station in January. They posted admission stats in a power point and I snapped a picture. These are the numbers for Class of 2021 (enrolling Fall 2017)
That’s crazy. I would not have guessed those numbers. By this they accepted almost 60% for admission (exclude PSA)… that gives a lot of hope! I wonder how many accepted their decisions out of each category.
TAMU Says 10,769 for freshman class of 2021. This is for main campus and doesn’t appear to include Team but should include those that made it in through Gateway. This number was given in oct 2017.
In a way it’s kind of a good thing admissions is taking their time due to Harvey and all of the ice days. If they were to have already released all of the decisions i would be wondering if the process wasn’t very thorough. I have faith that they are seriously looking at every individual application in order to give everybody a fair shot. If the decisions had been released at the same time as they did last year, they would have had to rush and been less careful. I’m sick of waiting, but i am trying to look at the positives and hope that these late decisions are for the best! Hopefully not too much longer!!
If we are one of the 7,000 or so to be denied admission, I feel that we have missed opportunities for housing and roommates at her backup schools. We are actually reconsidering a few schools that we had taken off her list due to all the uncertainty and stress. I feel that we can’t get excited about college at all until this is decided - one way or another. I’m very sorry to be super negative, but this wait is getting to me.
@MominPlano I have the same concern, but what do you do but try to be patient? I know we could put down a deposit on a back up school, but I want a decision, dang it! (LOL)
Silver lining is that my son was admitted to UNT today, so that is yet another option which is nice, but still not the answer he’s waiting for.
@txnjenn UNT is a good school, especially for my Daughter’s major. She has been accepted there and I have campaigned for it to be her backup. She is also looking at Arkansas and has added OSU back to her list. Sorry to be Debbie Downer and to get off topic a little. Prayers for us all to hear a decision soon! I appreciate all the good info and positive vibes and encouragement from this group!
Curious for the non business or engineering kids if they would consider going to Blinn for a year or whatever length TAMU required for transfer? Not Blinn TEAM just live in College Station and go to Blinn. Kids we know have done that and are now Aggies and doing well. The reason I ask is I see the talk about backup schools and it seems like this admission decision is either a yes or no while it could be a not yet. If your kid really wants to be an Aggie and is not a business or engineering major I’m sure they could do it because y’all have smart, hardworking kids! Just thinking positive thoughts for y’all and another option.
Good luck!
Full disclosure- I went to Junior College first and my diploma and ring say Texas A&M
Howdy! I am a first time prospective Aggie parent. My son was admitted to Engineering at Galveston last week. We live in Austin, so I was thinking why my son did not get the Blinn offer. Parents, do you have any child who went or is certainly going to Engineering at Galveston? Would you please share your reasons why you accepted or is accepting the offer? I know there are several paths of going to CC. Are all of these paths the same or is one better than the other? Sorry, I am a 1st time parent sending 1st child to college. Any inputs is greatly appreciated. Thanks
My daughter started out at Blinn full time and transferred into TAMU and is currently working her dream job post graduation!! There was never a question on where she wanted to get her degree from. My son feels the exact same way. He’s still awaiting a decision fromTAMU but his back up school is Blinn even if he’s offered PSA. He will be in College Station no matter what next year. Using his words, it’s not where you start; it’s where you finish that matters. Love this kid!!
