We are not very familiar with Gateway - will she be considered an Aggie?? Do you know if financial aid applies to Gateway? Any insight/info you could give would be great!
Did it just update tonight?
@LeStaphSergeant It doesn’t matter what you checked on your application. You are considered for all of the varying admissions decisions.
@collegebb4897 Would you mind sharing your stats, please?
@bodoky CONGRATULATIONS!!! Gateway is a great opportunity to gain full admission in the fall! I participated in this program WAY back in 1987 (it wasn’t called Gateway though — much better name now). I loved the experience and several posters on this feed have posted the benefits they gained (more recently) from participating in Gateway.
@bodoky this is a phenomenal experience I have yet to find a student who didn’t enjoy and appreciate this experience. 2 classes in the summer plus a course on studying/time management. You sign up for fall housing now like everyone else. I believe the gpa needed is a 2.0. Students also forge long term friendships during this since it’s such a small group.
Congrats!!!
Nothing this morning for me. First major is Business. Second is English
Howdy,
I was adtmitted Feb 5th but I just had a question was wondering if anyone could answer it. I applied for on campus housing yesterday but I was put in temporary housing. How is temporary housing and what should I expect? Also will I eventually get put in a dorm?
No change other than the last update has gone back to January and now instead of 51a 51b. We have 75a. Back to mush pile we go.
Does gateway get a banner
From what I have read u have a good chance of getting into a dorm. However, I just called housing and asked a very specific question. My daughter signed up for housing back in September. Her friend is still waiting to hear if she is accepted. If she is accepted I am guessing she will get temporary housing…since that is what it looks like is being given out. Housing says the person who has an earlier (my daughter) slot can select someone who has a lower slot…however, housing just said this can’t be someone on the temporary housing list.
@mama3g Our Howdy page shows Jan. 8 and 2a. They have changed constantly in the past 6 weeks.
@MominPlano @mama3g What does last updated date and the alphanumerical thing mean (if anything?) Sorry, if that is a dumb question, I just noticed it today when I looked.
Unfortunately I don’t think it means anything. Son was accepted 2/13 but Howdy page still shows “updated 1/10/18” and sometimes shows “updated 2/2/18” .
it seems the major i applied for filled sometime in dec (mays business). if i didnt put a second choice major, does that mean that i cannot get into tamu as another major or can they change my major for me and offer me acceptance to another college
When my son applied for engineering a few years back, it was the only major he applied for. He was offered Blinn Engineering Team or full admission on any other major TAMU offered
@whoop2022 Yes! Gateway gets a banner! And is an Aggie in all ways possible. My son did it this past summer:)
@skepticstudent just curious why you wouldn’t put a second major? This will in no way impact your decision of acceptance into TAMU, but yes, Mays has been full since early Nov. with academic and auto admits. Your next best bet would be Ag business or Econ. Both will set you up nicely for a change of major with curriculum. Just have to make the grades! Good Luck and keep us posted.
I think my Daughters friend just got in. Says “Your App is changed to a different term”
@skepticstudent It’s always wise to have a back up plan. But with your credentials and background, I seriously wonder whether Admissions won’t reach out to you and ask whether you would consider a second and different major. You might online chat with Admissions if you didn’t provide a second major choice and ask whether you can. Admissions is not exactly ONLY to one college/major, but they fill a lot of majors on first come basis. It seems to me that they reach out to strong candidates in one way or another, regardless.
