@skepticstudent Google Map to Mays… this will get you to transitioning into Mays info as in what classes to take and what GPA you need to make prior to applying for changing majors. My son wanted business as well and will do Econ with minor in Mays as a pursuit but if he makes the grades, he will try to change his major sophomore year. Lots of great ways to get a piece of Mays without being a full blown business major. You can also look at University Studies in Business. Degree in Mays with 2 minors. Can’t apply for this til Sophomore year. Pretty cool major though.

I chatted with the online admission person yesterday as well. According to him a wave of admits went out last week and they are doing alternative decisions (team, gateway etc etc). While he said no major was full and things are done on a rolling basis, and apps can be reviewed many many times, he did confirm that a large wave happened last week. I dont know what that means, because it didnt answer anything too specific but i just hope that doesnt mean full admits are done, now they are working on alternative decisions and the last couple of days are just reject letters going out.

Still waiting. No changes on daughter’s Howdy page. Is this a bad sign? Her admin counselor told her on Feb. 6th that she should receive a decision in the next 2 weeks.

@mamma3g do you know when those “days” are for sending out the alternative options or rejection letters??? im starting to get super frustrated because i applied in july and have been waiting since then and waiting until march is crazy to me

I don’t think a big wave has gone out yet. Nov and Dec had small waves of full admits. We’ve had Team and now Gateway waves (and of course Eng)… but not real big full admit waves this year… at least not shown on this forum or told to me by admissions (friend).

Anyone else seen anything different?

No decision yet. The wait and hearing about rejection letters is getting to me.

I honestly have no idea. We are in the same boat and I just took a chance to pop on the live chat just to ask if agricultural sciences were full. Maybe the reps are so tired of answering the same question, they are just giving out standard answers. sorry probably no help since we are also facing the same.

Still waiting, hopeful.

I just chatted with someone online and they said Blinn and gateway not “full” and I asked about if rejections had gone out and they said that all decisions will be out by mid- March. So sounds like what we thought of surely by end of February is looking like middle of March to really know. Just sharing if helps others to hear as well.

My son was accepted into the Gateway program last Friday. His first choice of major was Mays Business Finance and second choice was Liberal Arts Econ. He was accepted into BAC - GEST. while in understand that the Mays Business school is purportedly full, why would Admissions not default to the second choice ( if in fact Econ is still available)? what is the process for appealing in order to get into the Econ major as a full admit in the fall?

My friends sister is in admissions and said that all decisions have been made, so changing your major won’t change your application status. They are sending out decisions on different days to help with office overload but ALL decisions will be out by the end of the month

“Steve” on chat told me there are no big waves this year - people are getting accepted as they are reviewed.

Is everyone on chat line named “Steve”?

@Classof82 Are you asking how to appeal the Gateway decision? IDK. If admitted to Gateway you are not allowed to pick a major until you have successfully completed the program. Once completed you can register for fall classes and pick major at that point. That is my understanding at least.

@ddt827 Not having a decision yet is not a bad sign. Things are delayed this year as compared to the past two years admissions cycles. During the last two weeks of big releases (I say big, because a lot of people received a decision during that time - and decisions still trickled out after that), all types of decisions came out. If you have heard nothing, means you don’t have a decision yet. Even if you still don’t after a “big release”, you could get one later - even full. (editing to add that this is based on the info and stats from the last two admissions cycles-I am not personally in the know of admissions).

I know the not knowing is the worst part. With this being my third cycle to go through, I hate this part because nerves are frayed and decisions need to be made, but don’t give up hope and don’t make a decision until you have a decision. Then, you can make the most informed choice on what you need to do next.

@HopefulAggie200 You are in temporary right now, but that can change as everything progresses. There will be people who signed up who will decline their admissions to attend somewhere else that will open spots (by May 1), the current students in dorms have not reached the deadline to renew dorm housing or decline renewal, and your status can change throughout the selection process.

Yes, there are some students who end up in temp housing for a very short time and of the few I heard, while it is a little unconventional, they liked it! One’s attitude going in has a huge impact on your experience. You won’t be in a tent out on the back 40. As far as I know, every freshman ends up in permanent housing. Don’t stress. It may not be your first choice dorm but remember, this isn’t home and it’s part of the college experience. Everyone will be fine, no matter where they end up. It is what one makes of what they have, not what they don’t. And there is always the decision to change it.

@Tuppence22 the friends status can change as things move forward. By May 1, students who did the housing contract may decline admissions to attend elsewhere/can’t afford to attend. Then, people move up the list. Right now, the current on campus residents have not reached the deadline to renew their stay in the dorms or non renew. That will open spaces. Then, as the selection period progresses, she may move up to a slot where your daughter can choose her. Hope that is the case for them. There are also scenarios where students just do not show up and never notify A&M. My son’s best friend did not have anyone in his room for a week after school began and he got someone within a week or two.

@Thelma2 Thank you!

@Classof82 Your son was not offered full admissions is why he was not offered his second choice major when is first choice was full. He was offered a provisional admissions via Gateway. There are some prior posts about how to declare a major once you complete Gateway. I am not brushed up on the program enough to explain it.
