TAMU Holistic review candidates Class of 2022

@Ross2729 if it comes down to you needing housing here that’s not through Tamu I’m happy to offer suggestions on places. There is a ton of off campus housing and some new places just opened up across from Blinn campus that look really nice. Or some place in between blinn and tamu campus. Truly a lot of options so don’t let that part stress you out! Let me know if ya need my help.

Well if today starts the flurry of activity from now until mid march, hope the updates are rolling at a couple of intervals daily. Lol.

PS no change

@AggieMomhelp Thank you so much! I will be sure to contact you if I need any help. I am going to go see some places very soon.

No change here either :frowning:

No change…If my son does not get in he will go the Blinn route. We are in process of buying a condo this week. So he will be in College station regardless. He will literally be 3 miles from his home but he needs to experience some independence.

Wanted to remind potential engineering students that no fee is required anywhere along the line to apply to Blinn-Brenham’s Texas A&M Engineering Academy. (This may also be true for the other Engineering Academies.) Here is the link to the application information for the Blinn-Brenham Academy:
https://www.blinn.edu/teab/

I continue to mention this program because it’s an excellent opportunity to quality to get to the College of Engineering on the College Station campus your second year. The students in the Academies participate in the same Entry to a Major program as General Engineering students on the campus itself. Housing is available on Blinn-Brenham’s campus, and the cost is at least $3000 less than being a fully admitted student. They offer some financial aid, from what I understand. A&M professors teach the engineering courses, and the math, physics, and core curriculum classes should transfer anywhere. Blinn-Brenham is a good sized campus, and they have a lot of core curriculum offerings. If you are wondering whether engineering might be for you, this would sure be a good way to figure that out while earning STEM transfer credits from Blinn.

Today is March 1. Blinn-Brenham has just started to release the application material to those who have already been pre-cleared by submitting standardized math test scores. But there is plenty of time to be pre-cleared and apply. This cycle of admissions is just starting for the Blinn-Brenham Engineering Academy. All application materials are due in their office, so to speak, by June 30. “The Office of Admissions at Texas A&M University will provide final decisions no later than July 20, 2018.”

Called prospective student center…was told that they originally had planned to have all decisions out by today but now they have been told that a few will have to wait until the end of next week before spring break

Has anyone spoken with them today. Wondering if they give any indication or time to watch for a change. Or if they mid march today means they know the decisions aren’t going out today. I don’t know if my eyes would even notice a change from checking so many times!

Kinda weird that that there are zero status updates on this thread. Figured that at least some would come out today. If you are a watcher on this thread and got in or some version of that, let us know.

@MomHopesNxtGenAg I thought that the Engineering Academies were something that TAMU placed you in…are you saying you can apply independently to these academies with the ability to transfer to College Station?

Nothing here today

Still under review …

@txnjenn The Blinn-Bryan Engineering Academy is something that TAMU main engineering admissions gives spots in. It cannot be applied to directly. HOWEVER, the Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Blinn-Brenham CAN be applied to independently. There are also other Texas A&M Engineering Academies around the state, in Houston, Austin, and Dallas, at respective 2-year schools in those locations. There may be a couple other locations as well. This is a relatively new approach for TAMU to try to educate more engineers.

The Blinn-Brenham academy has already been operating for several years. They have 80 students there this year, some of whom received full admission to A&M but who decided for financial or campus size reasons to go to Blinn first. In the past, their transfer rate after the first year has been better than that for the Blinn-Bryan academy, actually. It appears to be a very good program. The students live together in a dorm there as a Living Learning Community. The Blinn-Brenham academy will also have an open house starting around 8 a.m. on Friday, March 9. Brenham is about 45 minutes’ drive south of College Station.

Yes, these academies represent another pathway to the main campus.

I am not sure whether admission to the academy would be available before May 1. I wouldn’t count on that, unfortunately. However, they have had a very high acceptance rate in the past. They will cap the enrollment this year at 100 students.

Could howdy possibly update by the end of the day?

@txnjenn The Engineering Academy at Blinn-Bryan is what they offer you. The others have to be applied to independently.

Ok, talked to A&M. Mixed messages. Only about 500 are actually denied (due to low scores) the other 6,500 are due to incomplete applications. Some applicants might be offered the PSA program. Lots of the Blinn TEAM offers have gone out. No rejections have been sent. Dont know if that helps or hurts- they WERE going to release all today but not ready due to instructions by upper management. PSC Arlington said they are releasing as decisions are made. I am going to research Blinn College and the PSA options to be aware of the possibilities just in case. Again, who knows until the decisions are posted. :relaxed:

Does anyone know if the campus is open during the spring break?

@MomHopesNxtGenAg @goaggie Thanks so much, gives us another option to consider. Although he wants to be in the Corp so Blinn-Bryan would be ideal if it isn’t a full admit.

@MominPlano This is also what we were told during SNWC a couple of weeks ago.

@MominPlano low test scores? Did they say If they are auto denied due to a min score?
