I am so thankful for this forum and all the good info and support. This has made the wait bearable knowing that there are many of us hoping for a good decision. Best wishes to everyone!
@CrazyMom23, I’m so glad he is an Aggie! Proud to have him for sure! I know he is an appreciated asset to TAMU. So sad that TU is missing out on so many stellar students. Their loss is our gain and we are thrilled to call them Aggies!
UT is much more selective, but they have sent out their decisions. Also, they petitioned the state to have the top 10 rule lowered, so that they are able to select students that aren’t in the top 10 percent. I personally know of 5 students that were fully admitted to UT and were offered Blinn TEAM or Gateway under holistic review. I applaud A&M for looking at each candidate individually, but there is no way that they haven’t made decisions on all of the students that are still waiting.
I definitely don’t agree with the comment that the 35% kids didn’t deserve the spot as much as another kid who was higher in rank. There are circumstances that happen and can very well affect that persons rank, not to mention if they are in a competitive high school. I think everybody should be lifting each other up and not bringing them down. Be happy for the ones who have got in or will get in, and always stay postitive for those who don’t get in. There are so many different ways to end up at TAMU and I know that I will do whatever it takes to get there, whether I go this year or the next.
@aggiecheermom, what do you mean that “they have sent out their decisions”? Looking at the UT thread it looks like to me that some people are still waiting for a decision. Where are you getting g your information that UT has sent out all their decisions? Also, UT didn’t bother to extent their deadline for admissions to account for Hurricane Harvey like A&M did so I will give A&M a pat on the back for being so compassionate and won’t hold it again them for taking a month longer to issue decisions on admittancees.
Sorry for typos, I’m tying on my phone.
At some point the Legislature will have to decide if UT is a public university or not. Hundreds of millions of tax payer dollars that UT receives and they are hell bent on turning it to an elitist institution and have lost focus on educating Texas students. The state will need to establish another flagship to keep up with the growing population. Lots of,top 25%-40% kids are leaving this state and getting money to do it.
I think everyone is a bit frazzled over this wait…hopefully tmrw will be a good day!
<:-P
Sigh. Nothing yet. Hope y’all get some good news today!
No change here this morning. I hope there are at least a few more review admit decisions going to deserving students. Good luck!!
No change here today for us…good luck to all!!!
No change.
no changes.
No change here
No change. Mid march to april sounds about right!
Nothing here. If anyone talks to them please post if they throw a day like Thursday or Friday out or more like another week. I was hoping to know before spring break as with everyone but trying to be patient though.
There’s just no way A&M is done accepting students. My son was accepted to A&M in the middle of February (Blinn Team Engineering). He said he has only heard about a handful of kids from his Austin high school that have been accepted. I really think there is a big wave about to hit! I know this is stressful and I really feel for everyone that is waiting, but I think acceptances are going out soon and hopefully we’ll have some very happy people on this forum!
@trinley I totally agree with your comment about UT. My niece is in the UT Engineering school and hates it. She said at UT she is just a number. I have a degree from Baylor and UT. I loved Baylor. The professors were available to the students and I never felt like a number. I went on to UT for a graduate degree and was shocked. I never wanted my kids to go there. UT’s rankings are outstanding, but I think A&M for even as big as it is has the better reputation.
I spoke with them Monday. Although the students are out all next week, the Admissions office and other campus offices are only closed next Thursday and Friday. No news here either.
