TAMU Spring 2021 Transfer

@jward499 Once accepted you will be able to sign up for NSC (New Student Conference), and you will register for classes at the NSC. They will have a few different options for dates and they do fill up, but there will be room for everyone. You will meet with an Academic Advisor and the AA should be able to help fill out your schedule. You will be able to see what classes are available in advance so you can put together a few options. Also keep in mind that some that are listed as FULL will have additional seats available when your registration window opens, so the key will be to remain flexible, but have rough plan.

Also, if you get acceptance and there is an NSC that fits your schedule, but is full keep looking as our experience was slots opened up later on and we were able to change to an earlier date.

I accidentally posted this question as a separate thread so please ignore that!

I was just curious if anyone knew who exactly reviews our applications and makes a decision. I know for freshman admits it’s the general admissions team, but for transfers, the college itself is responsible for making the decisions.
So, is it the advisors? Or does each college have their own transfer admissions team?

Just curious if anyone knew!

I received my acceptance today!!
Applied: August 6
Audit: September 9
Acceptance on AIS + 6 Tabs: September 17

My son applied for transfer for Spring 2021 to Turfgrass Science. He graduated last May (2020) and applied for freshman admission, but was offered PSA. Instead, we did our research, met with admissions (both general and Turfgrass) to understand courses he needed, then took summer school to complete recommended courses this past summer. He then registered for Blinn this fall with standard admission (no PSA, no Blinn Team), moved to College Station and applied for Spring transfer.

This morning his Howdy portal has 6 tabs and AIS updated a few hours later with the following: “Howdy! Congratulations on your admission to Texas A&M University!..”

Stats:
Dual Credit/College Credit hours: 37
Major: Turfgrass Science
GPA: 3.84
Applied: August 1
Transfer Audit posted: September 3
6 tabs in Howdy: early morning September 17
AIS change: late morning September 17

For all of those debating between PSA, regular Blinn, going elsewhere to college, take heart! If this is REALLY what your student wants, be patient. Of course, students don’t want to go to Blinn. BUT if the goal is to be an Aggie and you do your homework, it WILL happen with hard work!

Thank you for all the posts, feedback, and information here. It was so helpful in navigating the transfer process!

Gig 'em!

Chance my kiddo please…My son is applying for HRD in college of education for Spring transfer. Has a 3.75 with 51 hours transferable (18 dual credit, 27 from Freshman year, 6 hours from this past summer1/2 sessions.) He was denied for the Fall- didn’t have all the required courses completed for his first choice major but did for his second (still didn’t get in). Wasn’t notified until very end of March of the denial. Has all required completed now after summer school. Audit since 9/8… still only 3 tabs today. Congrats to all the have been notified of their acceptance!

@jhauser That’s amazing. I’ve never seen, and I mean never, TAMU offer acceptance for Spring to a true freshman without completing a full 12 hour fall semester prior to applying. So maybe they are loosening up the requirements for timing. We tried this with another poster last year since he too had dual credit, but they met with admissions and advisor and were told vehemently heck no and earliest acceptance would be summer after freshman year. So YAY they are changing it!!! Congrats

@shell95 I think your son has a great shot of being admitted. Great program too! Hopefully his essay was strong and shows passion for degree. Essays are looked at heavily for transfers. What was his second choice major? I’m surprised he didn’t get into that with having everything completed last go round. Did the major allow for 2nd choice transfers? And did his essay mention that major just in case he was denied by first?

@AggieMomhelp Thank you for the quick response, appreciate it! His second choice was Political Science, it is again this time. His previous essay was okay but didn’t focus as much on why passionate/interested in the major- it was more on extenuating circumstances. Hopefully his essay this time is more of what is being looked for, will post an update when he finds out.

I’m shocked he wasn’t admitted into 2nd choice. But maybe for the best so he’ll get his first choice this time around!

I was accepted this morning! Y’all hang in there it shouldn’t be too much longer, I’m rooting for y’all. Gig em

Hello everyone! I just wanted to see if someone could chance me:
32 hours (after this semester 44)
3.91 College GPA
Applied for the College of Education

All my info was received September 14
Audit posted on September 16

Congrats to everyone who got in and good luck to everyone else!!

@sarah1973 your stats are great. I don’t think you’ll have an issue getting in assuming all required coursework was completed before applying.

Hi, I just want to ask if someone could chance me.

I’m an international transfer applicant who applied for WFSC (Wildlife and Fisheries Science) for term 2021 Spring. Because I’m an international student, we had different deadlines. The application was submitted on June.

My college GPA is 3.65 with 59 total transferable credits, and I also submitted an additional essay, a resume and two letters of recommendation from my calculus professors. Also, the credits are all from a college in the U.S.

I got my audit on Aug 20th, but the status is still under review.

Due to the COVID-19, I got a P(Pass or Satisfactory in TAMU) grade in one of my biology requirement course this spring. I once talked with the department’s academic advisor about this, and he said I’m still on track. However, it’s been more than a month since I got my audit, and I’m kind of being anxious about this…

No worries, Ag dept usually releases acceptances in October. Hang in there. Your stats look good.

Thanks for your fast response! I really appreciate it.

Does anyone know when HR (college of education) usually hears back? thank you!

@brookeeo I’m applying for education too! I saw that someone from that college got 6 tabs in Howdy around October 31 last spring. She applied the third week of August
I’m so impatient I keep checking everyday!

@Sarah1973 Me too lol & awesome, thank you! Best of luck to you

My son got his acceptance this morning! Whoop!

College Credit Hours: 34
GPA: 3.71
Application Date: August 1
Transfer Audit Report: September 3
Acceptance Letter/6 Tabs: September 29
Major: Technology Management (College of Education and Human Development)

My son applied as a freshman, was not automatic, and was not admitted. He also applied for last fall, but was missing one of the “required or recommended” courses for his major. He reached out to the advisor and told her he was taking the missing class in summer school. She replied back and said because he didn’t have all of the coursework, he would be denied. But she also strongly encouraged him to apply again for the Spring 2021 semester, and even listed courses at his current university that he should take that would transfer to A&M. My son emailed her a few times with updates, and she always replied, thanking him for keeping in touch. So I think it’s definitely worth making the effort to contact an A&M advisor and stay in touch! Also, his transfer essay mentioned he grew up in an Aggie home, but the essay didn’t “bleed maroon.” Instead, he focused on his desire to study his major, as well as his relevant internship experience and career goals.

Good luck to everyone! For my son, the third time was the charm!

My son got in, HRD in college of education! I had previously posted how he was rejected in the fall. He has 3.75 with 51 hours. Good luck to everyone…don’t be deterred if you don’t get in on your first try.

@Aggie1986 - What housing is your son considering? Maybe possible roommates?

I got accepted yesterday for the same program! Tell him congratulations, SO exciting!
