I currently have a 3.21 gpa
29 credit hours
looking to transfer to mechanical engineering
how high does my gpa need to be in order to get admitted
Are you a student at another school, or current A&M student trying to change major?
@FriscoDad is the Engineering guru.
Im currently in another university called tamiu
TAMU MEEN will be impossible as minimum GPA to apply is 3.75, the actual average admitted GPA is 3.98 with majority of 4.0.
isnt that for aerospce engineering
on the transfer course sheet it says 3.25
Yes, the low range comes from maximum hours which is close to 75. With 29 to 60 hours will need 3.75+.
so that means im going to need a minumum gpa of 3.75?
The honest suggestion is 3.9.
TAMU has ETAM, so even fully admitted engineering freshmen need to compete among each other to get MEEN in sophomore year. Last year 238 got MEEN with 3.75+ GPA at TAMU, 144 holistic. Holistic median GPA is still very high at 3.71. External transfer will definitely require higher GPA.
In TAMU, MEEN, AERO, CPSC, BMEN, CHEN are hot and tough majors. You can also use the list above to explore other majors that may be your alternative option. But pulling the GPA up to 3.5 will be important.
so as a external transfer i need to at least have a 3.7 as a gpa
where is this?
