Tancredo to Quit Race

[Tancredo may drop out tomorrow - First Read - msnbc.com](http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2007/12/19/526463.aspx)

His role in future GOP debates will be assumed by an illegal alien willing to do the work at a fraction of the cost.

Does this push the immigration issue further down the food chain?

LOL, DG, at your assessment in the first post. But, no, immigration will not become less of a hot button issue among the Republicans. You’ve got McCain, who is mostly reasonable, Giuliani who was for it before he was against it, and I don’t know where Romney is but pick a position and he’ll get there eventually. Thompson probably hews to the GOP orthodoxy but he’s going to be one of the first to flame out. So maybe Huckabee…?

Tancredo’s endorsing Mitt Romney?

Why?

What’s a Tancredo?

He was receiving slim support in the polls for the GOP nomination, yet his prensence in the race was forcing the major candidates rightward on the immigration issue.

This issue was splitting the party. I beleive his withdrawal will take some heat off the issue.
