Tank top and V-neck for guys

<p>So, I will be attending a small college in North Carolina. I live in Sydney, which is sometimes described “city of tank tops and V-NECKS”.</p>

<p>Then I checked out my school’s Flickr, almost 1800 photos and only in Two I see guys wearing tank top. And right now can I just say I’m scared. In Sydney I wear tank tops 6 months of a year, so does almost every guy around me. It’s the most comfortable in hot summer days</p>

<p>Is it really so serious in the US that tank tops and V-necks are unacceptable and necessarily create negative image? </p>

<p>So far the most common reasons I come across that against tank tops are:
1 “They are also called wife beater in the US.” This obviously won’t apply to me
2 “You only wear it if your going to the beach, otherwise you just wanna show off.” Ok if I go to the beach I’m not gonna just lie there with my tank top on. I’ll go shirtless obviously so a tank top or a shirt doesn’t really make any difference. And yes I got some muscle and tattoo so what if I want people to see it?</p>

<p>Tank tops on a guy just seems weird but v-necks are fine. Definitely better than ridiculous crew neck under a dress shirt look.</p>

<p>Eh, around here you see guys in tank tops/wifebeaters and also lacrosse pinnies pretty often. They usually have stuff on them rather than just plain white tank tops.</p>

<p>Guys (except for tools) don’t wear tank tops all the time here in the US (only occasionally). However, as a girl, I feel the need to tell you that a guy wearing a shirt with a slight v-neck (not too drastic) is incredibly attractive. I have no idea why, it just is!</p>

<p>yeah when I say tank top I mean the ones with colour or even patterns on. it’s weird if someone wears a plain white one if he’s not in the gym, worse if it’s a white ribbed one</p>

<p>I think depends a lot on the culture of the school. What school will you be attending? I am from the West Coast, and guys in tank tops totally fly here. It’s very common.</p>

<p>I live in california so I’m kinda use to all different types of styles but in college no one really stresses over the dress code.But I’m pretty sure North Carolina won’t be as hot as Sydney except maybe in the summer.</p>
