TAP/lower GPA or no TAP/higher GPA (please help!)

Hey everyone,

So I’ve had a difficult quarter this fall due to my ongoing heart condition and then had a family emergency. Currently I’m in TAP but because I missed some classes for the above reasons its affecting my grades slightly. I may have the chance to switch out of the honors class to the regular sections. Would this be better since my GPA would be higher?

Major: american Literatures and Culture
51 applied, 31 accepted ~60.7% acceptance to the major
Average GPA applied: 3.37
Average admitted: 3.44

So if I stay in TAP I’d probably have a 3.2-3.3 (and no gaurantee of getting certified)
If I don’t, I should have a 3.4-3.5
I have all of my prereqs done and IGETC.

What do you guys think? Its driving me crazy and I need some piecew of mind!

Thanks if you can help and sorry if there are some typos I’m posting from my phone haha

Uh, so I fail at calculating and it won’t really make a difference if I switch out of honors or not.

SO UH, DISREGARD MY POST, KTHX becuase I can’t delete it. D:

MY BAD.

TAP is so self-selective.

I’m biased but stay in TAP, it REALLY helps. Right now all my TAP courses are insanely easy, the only one I have even a risk of a B in is a Comm 10 Honors Persuasive Speaking class, and that’s only “in play” because I was really unwell one day and overslept, not completing my outline causing me to be late on 1 assignment, miss 5 points AND as a result of violating “the deal” have to take the final. But this guy’s class is pretty easy to pass, I got a 55/60 on the midterm without studying and the final’s only 40 points. I can miss 6 more and keep an A (he grades by how many you “miss” rather than overall, so you can only miss 20 to keep an A, I’m at 14 because of that 5 or I’d have a very nice buffer zone).

Main point… especially for English classes, stick it out, get TAP certified, bust your hump the best you can, but don’t overwork yourself (grades should NEVER EVER land you in the hospital), and you’ll soar. Good luck, do your best.
