Rising senior, 1920 sat (620 cr, 670 mth, 630 wr), 3.24 GPA unweighted at the best public school in central texas (not sure that that’s saying anything) with consistent improvement in annual averages, 8 aps (lit, composition, environmental studies, euro, gov, macroeconomics, calc (ab), psychology)(including senior year), about 20 honors. Not many EC’s (one year of JV tennis, one year of film club, will continue on both next year). For the fat load of good it’ll do, I am an ethnic minority: I’m El Salvadorian and native american (it’s a small tribe you’ve probably never heard of in el salvador affiliated with the mayans).

Rank? So far, pretty decent chances, especially with your ethnicity. What college/major are you going for?

Vanguard Prep?

My rank is really low
(149 out 209). Looking into psychology (social or biological, not sure which), electrical engineering (though I imagine Dwight Look is pretty hard to get into), neural sciences.

This will be a reach school for you.

Good to know I’ve got a shot, albeit not a great one. Thank you!

I would not count on Engineering, but I think with ALL factors in consideration there is a chance for psych. But like you said, it is not a great one.

Even with a bad rank, I’d still say you have a shot at getting in. A&M could use more diversity…
