Target Your Future (TYF)

Recently got an invitation to join this 8 week career building program and was wondering if anyone went through it. Is it time consuming? What are the benefits? Is it worth joining?

Thanks.

bump. Nobody knows about this? Its put on by the BBA Career Service.

I’ve never heard of this but I recommend checking it out if its free, afterall it would not hurt to go. The lady that is the head of the COLA Career Services is a well-known carrer-ists who wrote a book about college majors and careers so if you are COLA, check it out.

Its for business students who want to get acquainted with employers for future internships. I’ll just sign up. Thanks.

I did it last semester. I liked it, but it kind of just reiterated what everybody in McCombs stresses: how to do interviews and how to act around employers. They also let you know how to network and such. It’s basically an extension of BA 101.
It’s not that time consuming (1.5 hours a week), but going every week gets annoying. Sometimes I felt like skipping it (like if I had an exam the next day), but ended up going every time. Also, you need to have business casual clothes for the class days when you have professional speakers.

Dressing up for BA101 or for the professional speakers at the meeting @ TYF? You think its worth it?

I think it’s worth it–especially for your first semester in mccombs. we had to dress up in BA 101 twice. In TYF it was about 5 or six times. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have many business casual clothes. Many people wore the same things each time.

Dressing up shouldn’t be a problem. Thanks a lot.
