Tasha Tudor

Curious to see if there are any others on CC who were fond of her books and illustrations.

Can’t even begin to count the bedtime readings of “A Time to Keep” here – one of younger D’s all-time favorites.

I was only vaguely aware of her, and thought for some reason that she was a gardener. I saw some of her illustrations on the NYT website, and they are lovely. I’d like to get a book or two for my 9-year-old son - any suggestions? He loves the Dr. Doolittle books (original; with author’s illustrations) and the Uncle Wiggly stories.

lspf, thank you for sharing that link. We have several books illustrated by her, a few of which were favorites of my Ds when they were young.

I remember her illustrations for “The Secret Garden.”

Great article! I’ve always loved her eccentric lifestyle, along with her books.

NYmom - some of her books might be a bit young for him, though my youngest is 10 and still loves A Time to Keep, as it’s more of a neat childhood memoir (that makes you wish you could go back in time). Also, as Hunt mentioned she did illustrate an edition of Secret Garden, which might be a good choice.
I like his old-timey taste in books! I used to like the Thornton Burgess animal stories when I was little. They seem so ancient now.

Thanks for the link. My oldest was born in NH - when she was a toddler I bought for her, an autographed copy of Mother Goose. Now I must get out to the garage and find it. Have The Secret Garden and A Time to Keep as well.
She was an amazing woman.
