Tasp 2007

AAAAAAAAAAAAH! I’m finally back, my dearly missed CC T(R)ASP lovers!! This is my first post since I received my interview notification and I do not know why that is. But in any case, I had my interview today and it was fun, simply fun.

I don’t mean to bore you with my interview details but I need to rant. I’m not sure how I did; because I scrambled for words in two instances, stumbled on and rambled about my thoughts in more than two instances, and just neeeaarly contradicted myself a couple of times (and maybe completely once, I don’t exactly remember the words I used to answer the interviewers’ question), not to mention that “oh crrruud moment” that I tried to cover up. The interviewers asked me really REALLY easy questions (which kind of worries me now), nothing that honestly required me to take a ten minute break to contemplate, and there wasn’t a huge effort in trying to make me contradict myself (I guess I took care of that department pretty well). It was really casual but I had this strange tingling feeling the entire time like I was being injected with an intellectual botulism-esque agent that kept freezing up my thoughts, but then smoothing them out as well. That’s why I’m a bit worried about how my thoughts actually came across because there were a few instances when I didn’t elaborate on my views, hoping they would questions them, but they didn’t so I’m not sure how my thoughts were perceived. I honestly don’t know how I did, and I don’t want to think about how I came across. I felt a bit down after I got into the car, but I remember wanting the interview to continue when they signaled that it was time to go. The truth is, I had fun, I have regrets, and now I wait. I hope to L.L. Nunn that I’m not rejected right off the bat as Aida said of some applicants. On that note (not to sound inept but I was just wondering what’s looked for in a TASP interview), Aida can you clarify what sorts of things constitute a good interview and, inversely, a bad?

On another note, where is the application for TRASP? I have extensive experience with the Middle East and I’m always open to learning more by throwing myself in the middle of the whole affair!

LOL uber, you make me laugh. Well, I’m glad to hear I wasn’t the only one with a dreadful “Oh…my god” moment, and it sounds like you had fun. I was like that too; the interview seemed over quite quickly. My interview went for about 70 or 75 minutes, I’d guess. I know my interviewers were on a pretty tight schedule, though.

TRASP sounds quite scintillating. I’ll have to look into it further.

Your application will show up in the mail sometime in early May amir, Although an acceptance letter doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t get in…
But yeah you should totally come, you could snag some of the iranian revolutionary guards to protect us!

So, out of curiosity, what was everyone’s “OMG I did NOT just say that” moment?

I actually said the federal government should prosecute unprotected sex… but then I took it back when I realized how stupid that honestly was. x)

without context that is an interesting statement.

idk, nate said amir so i said that.

oh Happy Easter everyone! I actually had no clue it was easter today. I woke up thinking it was a normal sunday but then my cousin was running around with a basket looking for eggs and I was like, ***. I’m surprised I even know when christmas is.

no we have two amirs
both of which wrote an essay about model un…
intriguing to say the least

haha…okay that’s interesting.

I don’t like CC right now. They block w-t-f. WTF!!!

Haha yeah Easter…

I think my family is suppose to be at church right now.

:-P

can anyone who has had their interview already say where there interview took place and what they wore?

It seems like a lot of people had interviews somewhere on a nearby college campus, as did I. Others had their interviews at Starbucks (some lucky people had theirs at Jamba Juice). I wore slacks, a blouse and a suit jacket (though I’m a girl, so I don’t know how much that helps, lol). Like people have been saying, dress to fit into your interview location. Hope this helps!

AHH MY INTERVIEW IS IN AN HOUR AND A HALF

At Jamba Juice. Hmm. Jeans or no jeans? I don’t know what to do :(

either way…it doesnt matter much just wear nice jeans

btw how long were ur guys’ interviews? mine is scheduled to be like around 40 min

Haha tako. I think nice, classy jeans (as in, not washed out, and of course, without holes :D) should do the trick. I admit I don’t know Jamba Juice (SHOCK -> I’m Canadian, hope you guys will excuse my ignorance), but I’m pretty sure just by it’s name that jeans should be just fine!

Oh, and GOOD LUCK! Don’t worry if you ramble a bit, I’m pretty sure most people did at least at some point. And have FUN!!!

tako you’re back!! mm… wear jeans if they’re nice jeans and you absolutely hate pants. since it’s at jamba juice (ergh, lucky), i doubt it would matter too much, but you can wear dress pants to be safe.

GOOD LUCK!@!!! oh man, i can hardly imagine what the interviewer would say if you do that peter pan impersonation XD

lmao, what they said.

jason4444 - my interview was at Panera Bread Co. …which is a really casual setting. I wore dark jeans and a green tanktop… the tanktop was long and loose tho so it wasnt too much. I actually had a collared oxford shirt to waer over, but it looked too stuffy. i agree w/million$, dress to fit the location.

my interviewer ended all her interviews w/the same question: What do you think is the biggest problem facing humanitiy today?

haha… i had fun w/that one…
