Tasp 2007

…wait, Corey, you’re being sarcastic right? I’m pretty sure you are but if you aren’t, I’ve got a few choiced words I’d like to tell you. ;)

the internet is so hard for sarcasm and jokes. and pronunciation but that’s a completely different story.

I have a confession. I am one of the most sarcastic people in the world (I thought was pretty obvious though, :-P) YES GLOBAL WARMING IS EFFIN UP OUR PLANET AS WE SPEAK, latest national geographic had a great article on ice melting in the arctic regions  (I love my natgeo)

But on that note, I can BS like no other (this is normally a good trait to have) and it mixed with my public speaking skills, I can pretty much pull anything I want. (Just this past Friday I gave an introduction to this video project in front of an audience of about 100 ppl, the movie was pretty bad and we spent the entire time just messing around, but, I was able to make it sound like we were Steven Spielbergs (who apparently went to our school–And hated it)) That being said I do use common sense, logic, and my personal intuition when it comes to these things.

For instance on this thread I gave a lot of advice and a lot of people thought I attended TASP, no i didn’t, but the truth is the entire process with TASP is shrouded in so much secrecy that even after going through this process and being accepted I have no more insight than I did at the beginning. SO to those you are reading this and wish to apply in the future (cough 8th graders cough :-P) just use common sense. Thats all I was doing when I was giving people advice. Also be confident, thats what makes it believable :-)

I don’t know the point of that post, but basically now the secret about me is out, I know jack about TASP admissions and I was just fronting.

haha corey. I too have mastered the art of BS. It may not be as obvious as with Corey’s but still. When it comes to academic life, bs is my middle name. Anyway, I knew you were being sarcastic. Afterall, you’re a californian democrat. <3 I was just somewhat skeptic since you’ve said that about global warming in the past.
It’s so coincidental too, all this global warming stuff. For history I have a 2 hour presentation on the 1970’s due Thursday (and i haven’t started it yet and will be in NY all tomorrow! YAY!!!) so I was doing some brief research today. I found this book in my library with a collection of old nytimes front page articles. Well one day in July of 1976 they had an article explaining carbon emissions and what disasterous effects it will have on the environment. It went on to describe what global changes will occur by the year 2008. I swear every single change mentioned in that article has happened, and still noone listens. sigh

OH and vote for Blake!!!

Blake?
he running for president? never heard of him.

i’ll be pretty happy no matter how this election turns out: obama = good, mccain = pretty chill old man, romney = his name is Mitt for gods sake, that would be ****ing awesome. hillary? ehh, idk, if she just does what her husband tells her to then sure.

Lol I believe she is talking about American Idol XD, far less political than you assumed.

I love how i saw the word democrat in her post before her and just assumed that, haha

trying to keep politics on my mind now that ima be down there for 5 weeks this summer
(doin it all for the ID badge  )

pfft american idol
never have never will

Im with you about american idol. American Idol vs. Politics, only slightly ironic and disgraceful to our country that people vote more and care more about American Idol than the presidential election (No offense to you Karen)

So you know where you staying in DC? With your man, alex was it?

Oh Andrew, right
forgot about him heh
staying at CUA

I care way more about politics than american idol. In fact, i missed Chris Daughtry’s (sp?) performance last night to watch Larry King with Gore. I guess I just don’t see the point in caring (so much) about the election this far in advance.

cua?

Christain University of America… Sounds intense.

Catholic University of America? They used to be on my college list (maybe they still are. lol…i have a really bad memory.) They have an awesome classics department.

My bad… wrong religious affiliation. Catholic… even more intense

yeah, they rape little boys.

woah totally out of line karen

Read the thread in the summer program forum titled, “Is volunteering abroad a bad thing?”

I feel sort of bad for what i wrote :-/ But at the same time I stand behind everything i wrote 100%

i will read in a second.

i can’t believe it is almost 3. i havent stayed up this late in a long time. Everyone’s arleady gone to sleep to. =(

I don’t think it was out of line at all. I’ve actually been thinking the same exact thing. Why DO people do things only for college? Have you ever seen Dazed and Confused? There’s this awesome quote in it about the future. Something along the lines of “everything we do is just in preperation for the future. So really we’re just preparing for death.” well, whatever she says, I agree and think you should enjoy life. Take control of your resume, don’t let it control you.

lol, woah, you’re actually feeling bad for it, Corey? I didn’t think it answered the OP’s question necessarily, but your point was very valid. Feel bad for not addressing the prompt! (You’ll get a 0 if that was an SAT essay). ;)

Besides, it’s an online forum, where theoretically people can be candid about their views. :P

Im over feeling bad.

And quite frankly does anybody know what adcoms are thinking or looking for (well theoretically yes) but the real answer is no. admissions are so subjective for any top tier school, they arent just plugging your numbers into a computer and getting an answer spat back out at them, way to many factors are in effect to guess what they want.

If only it was as simple as that. Well not really because I think numbers are stoopid (does stupid count as a bad word on here?)
