Lol Mintie I like your post… I wanted to mention the Asian point as well but I thought that would over the top.

I love “hooks”. People say that us doing telluride is a “hook” I don’t know if i agree with that necessarily

i don’t like hooks either. mainly cause i don’t have one.

Perhaps no individual knows what colleges desire in an applicant, but surely you can’t go too off the mark with a group of teenagers and parents who share and discuss it so that some semblence of truth appers?

lol, and at least it’s better than getting a private councellor. A lot of people can’t afford those, and even if they can, would one professional advice be better than hundreds of different pieces of information that can be gathered here from different people’s experiences and perspectives? It’s not a rhetorical question because I don’t know the answer, but I think that’s why CC is useful, even if it doesn’t exactly reflect your chances, or whatever else people come here for. Though people should exercise their caution. :D

lol, I cross-posted. This was in response to Corey’s post if anyone’s lost. XD

Ewww SAT scores :(

I’m going to get yelled at by my parents, I know it. Whatever, I just won’t tell them until we get the mail :P

And wow, there seems to be so many side conversations here that I don’t know which one to respond to!

aww, tako! You took the reasoning test in May? Don’t worry about not doing too well, you can always take it again (though I know, it still sucks…)

…About the parent thing though, I can totally sympathize. I hope it goes well with your parents… better than it did with mine half a year ago. :)

Oh no I took subject tests: Chem and History.

History wasn’t much of a surprise, but I thought I aced chemistry!

Obviously not :stuck_out_tongue: because I got the SAME score on both, ha ha. Whatever, lit and math in June, woot.

Me, too–lit and math (and us history) in June

Oh, guess what! I just registered for the summer informational thing on June 22 at UChicago…that should be fun :D

What is that? Maybe I should do that, right now I am visiting UChicago on the 21st…

i really want to go now! i wanted to go visit UChicago in june but i still have school on the 21st. =(

tako: woah, you’re taking a lot of subject tests! lol, have you taken your reasoning test yet or are you waiting 'till senior year?

…and I’m probably the only one here that isn’t interested in UChicago. Meh. You guys have fun with your college visits!

My visiting Northwestern and UChicago is more a reason to avoid as much of the “festivities” surrounding my greatgrandmas 90th bday. I really doubt I will like Chicago but since my mom went there and its right there in Chicago why not right?

I know, my parents are weird.

I already took the SAT I but my parents want me to retake it. Personally, we’ll see :P

And UChicago <333 watch us all go there ;)

jenny I’m applying ED somewhere else. =( Hm…watch i get rejected there and wind up at UChicago. That would be mad chill. (i’ve ALWAYS wanted to say that!)

MAD CHILL.

Dude I want so badly to apply to UChicago early. STUPID INTERNATIONAL STATUS HATE HATE HATE RAWR DIE KILL HATE STUPID :(

And what school, Karen?

what about international status?

Are you an international?

Mmm UChicago doesn’t allow international applicants who want financial aid to apply early.

And you still want to go there? I seem to remember you wanting financial aid, and UChicago isn’t the kindest college for Int’l students in terms of aid.

tako you’re international? wha? I never expected that.

And i want to attend smith. what’s really cool is iriseyes’s sister went there after being accepting ED. It’s just kinda cool in my eyes. I love the school but the real reason I’m gonna apply ED is so i never have to think about posting one of those "No-name school (2 grand a year) vs. Smith (35 grand a year)’ threads. i know my mom would make me choose the cheapest so this way I never have to deal with that. Hopefully.
