TASP 2020

Hi @TASPer2019,

I was also in the UMich one. You guys weren’t ditzy girls and macho men—you were smart, interesting individuals who I learned a lot from in the short time we spent together. Though I liked all of the other students, I personally hated every second of the program and was ecstatic when I got to leave. The program (both in the house and in class) felt simultaneously like a prison, the initiation process of a cult, and a Soviet re-education camp… a friend of mine, encapsulating my experience of it entirely, called it “a combination of 1984, One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, and the lower levels of Dante’s Inferno.” You probably know who I am from that, lol, unless I hid my utter misery last summer better than I think I did. What about it did you like? Did you feel stifled, inundated with propaganda, constantly emotionally manipulated, like opinions/hypotheses were simply presented as facts and we weren’t allowed to discuss them, and like you were purposefully deprived of privacy to make your brain more pliable? I know I did.

Well, I’m glad you had a good experience even though mine felt like being cast into the worst circles of hell with a slowly constricting noose around my neck.

the link doesnt work @grxdotxce

Has anyone had their interview yet? My interviewer has yet to contact me and TASP has yet to reply to my emails asking them about it

I had mine last Saturday and most of my peers have had them in the past 2 weeks. I would not worry about it because I know some interviewers are busy at the moment because of everything going on rn. Maybe try to email tasp-queries again or if you haven’t already. Good luck!

@dancer128 how was your interview? also do you think it’s still going on with the virus and such?

@dancer128 could you give us some insight into the structure of the interview? Like what type of questions do they ask and the length of it?

@yallpleasehelp @bigstickenergy My interview was 1 hour long and I had 3 interviewers. The structure varies for everyone. Mine was barely on my essays and more about current events and my experiences. Some people had short interviews(30 mins) and it was only on essays. My friend had a lot of questions asked about the “Favorites” section. The only way to really prepare is to be yourself lol. (practice with a friend maybe) The questions are not the typical job interview questions. It rlly is about critical thinking

Your interview was a virtual one?

Everyone’s interview is virtual given the circumstances rn @mid123

Right, I’m surprised you had 3 interviewers giving the circumstances. Why do you think that is?

@mid123 Some say it’s based on how many Telluride Associates are in the area. I was surprised to even get a different interviewer than I did last year for TASS, but apparently there are a lot where I’m from. Mine were professors at the nearby universities and one was a grad student.

Yeah, I heard that before. I thought TASP would have a lot more representatives in my area. Do you happen to live on the east coast?

@mid123 Yep, east coast near some “public ivies” lol

Hey! Has everyone here had there interviews? I finished my TASS interview last week and now I’m eagerly waiting for results! My interviewer said late April/early May but I just can’t wait, fingers crossed!

Honestly, it’s probably going to be late May because the round 2 deadline was April 22nd

Is anyone willing to email TASP about when decisions come out?

Tmrw supposedly @yallpleasehelp

@dancer128 How do you know? Did you get in touch with TASP?

Can you add us to the PM chat? Did TASP confirm notification tomorrow and do you know if it is email or regular mail notification? Thank you!

@StanfordMom2026 Are u representing your child or are you the person who applied?
