TASP? Black MOP?

What is TASP? Is it like USAMO? What is Black MOP?

TASP= Telluride Association Summer Program(Humanities)

USAMO= United States of America Mathematical Olympiad

Black MOP= most selective group of MOSP(math olympiad study camp) students who compete for spots on the American IMO team; they are selected from the high scorers in the AMC/AIME/USAMO series of tests

USAMO and TASP are about as far opposite in the educational spectrum as you cna get without falling out and entering an alternate quai-educational universe.

The two are similar only in that they're both extremely selective and prestigious.

To [over]simplify, TASP is the humanities equivalent of MOSP. If you're a math/science person, also look into RSI (Research Science Institute), just about as prestigious as MOSP. However, RSI and MOSP have different foci, with the latter focusing more on mathematical problem solving and the former on scientific, mathematical, and technological research.

I will be taking the AMC12 this year. If I score high enough, I can take AIME and then have a USAMO score? so if i score high enough, ill be picked to be on the Black MOP or whatever?

And how do you get into TASP?

If you get a 100+ on the AMC12, you can take the AIME. If your index score after the AIME (AMC 12 score + 10*AIME score) is in the top 160, you qualify to take the USAMO exam.

The remaining USAMO spots go to students who took the AMC 10s, qualified for the AIME, scored above the lowest AIME score of the group of 160 students, and are the top 90 students in this group...it's basically to let the underclassmen have a shot at the USAMO.

To make it from USAMO to MOSP, you have to reach a USAMO cutoff. The top 12 scorers from the USAMO make "Black MOSP" (USAMO cutoff last year of 25), the top eighteen kids last year who weren't from this group and weren't graduating seniors made the "Blue MOSP" (last year, USAMO cutoff was 19), and a couple of frosh are put into the "Red MOSP" category.
