Hi, I’m planning on applying to TASP, but I’m not sure if I’d be able to attend even if I do get accepted. So my question is, if I am accepted, am I required to attend, or can I decline attendance?

Please respond ASAP!

Thanks.

I don’t actually know anything about what the actual rules are, but I don’t see why you shouldn’t be able to decline. I’m sure they would easily find someone else to take your spot, and since it is free, I don’t think they would worry about losing your tuition. They probably understand that people who apply are also applying for many other opportunities and may have to choose after the fact. It’s not like they’re going to send agents to your house to pick you up and make you go.

Yes, if you get accepted to TASP, you can decline to attend.

My D applied and was accepted to TASP last year. She decided (after much angst and hand-wringing) to do research in a biochem lab at UT instead. The Telluride people keep a wait-list for guys and a wait-list for girls so her spot went to another girl.

thank you so much! that makes me so relieved you have no idea

Man, I’m just worried about getting accepted in the first place… =(

Trust me… If you get accepted into TASP and decline, you will make one person on the waitlist very happy. XD

Nope. If you try to refuse, they’ll kidnap you and bring you, bound and gagged, to their secret headquarters, where they shall sacrifice you to the TASP gods to purify their spirits.
