I’m thinking of adding this to my list of things to do (hopefully before retirement). I know several CCers have done the Viking River cruises, has anyone gone through Tauck? What is your opinion?
Our family took a Tauck tour, but not a river cruise. We did Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon and the Grand Canyon. The tour was fabulous. The only downside was that our sons were ~17 and 22 at the time, and the tour was filled with old people. But they took us to the best spots, we had time away from the group to do our own exploring, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Tauck is a first class company. Have not done their river cruises but have read and heard from satisfied passengers who had that they do an excellent job.
We just returned from a Uniworld river cruise last month. I can not say enough good things about them. Impeccable in all areas. Our travel agent feels that Uniworld is the top river cruise company.
Edit: FYI, Tauck does not own their own fleet of river ships. I believe they sub-contract but, for the most part, use their own employees.
My folks have been on many Tauk Tours and have nothing but praise for the company–good guides, good food, quality company.
Tauck and Scenic are the top-of-the-line river cruises companies. You may want to check out the cruise critic website (moderator: if recommending a website violates some CC rule, please delete post and PM me so I don’t break the rules again!)
