Tax free weekend!

This weekend in TN is tax free weekend for clothes, shoes, sporting equipment (under$100), computers (under$1500), school supplies, etc. I don’t know how many other states have this weekend or if it is on the same dates as ours, but wanted to remind everyone so they can take advantage of it.

The tax free weekend in NC is in August, usually around the second week. We saved some money on S’s laptop (and the stuff that goes with it) by buying then.

I think TN also has one in late July/early August for back to school - got my d to go out of town with me last year to shop for school (so I had her all to my self - didn’t have her calling firiends to meet up for lunch/movies/ice cream/whatever for ine whole day…

In New Hampshire its tax free weekend every weekend. YAY.

NY has had them right around the time you are shopping for back to school clothes, but I usually go to clothes tax-free PA for the big trips…

I sure wish Michigan had a tax free weekend! We’re not likely to get one anytime soon, with our worse-than-the-other-states economy. D will be in TN for school next year … is it always the same weekend? If so, I will have to plan a trip that weekend! :)

We usually have one in late July/early August and pestered my Ds school to publish the school supply list early so we could take advantage of it. We also have it in late March and it was postponed this year due to Easter weekend.

One of my sibs lives in TN. The first time I visited was in late July. I didn’t know it, but it was tax free weekend. We had planned to hit a few outlet malls and some other malls since shopping in my part of the state is less than fun. I was pretty happy and surprised not to pay the 10% (?) tax that weekend.

New Mexico has a tax-free weekend for school clothing, shoes, laptops, sports equipment and supplies in early August–usually the first weekend. I think this will the fifth or sixth year we’ve had it.
