TCNJ or Baruch College

Hey Everyone!

I am currently a sophomore student at a community college in NJ. I am doing research on where to transfer to next year and I need your help and advice. I am majoring in business administration and I want to become an accountant. My ultimately goal is to be hired by a big 4 accounting firm. So what do you think?

TCNJ is about $10,000 a year for an in-state resident
Baruch College is about $13,000 a year for an out-of-state resident

I am going to be a commuter, so:
TCNJ is about 1 hour, 15 minutes from me
Baruch College is around 1 hour, 35 minutes from me

Which school do you think would get me into a big four firm?

thank you so much for your help! =)

Go to TCNJ!

The school is excellent and the accounting program is one of the best in the country. TCNJ School of Business is best in the state and has all the “big 4”. You are almost guaranteed a job after (in accountancy). Why pay and travel more for the same education and opportunity? However, I will warn you on two things:
*Its boring if you don’t dorm at TCNJ, even though the campus is beautiful.
*The schooling is hard as hell, many community kids come to TCNJ with 4.0 and graduate with 2.5 GPA. So you need to study hard.

Reconsider commuting if you can financially afford it. Both schools are near heavy rush hour traffic areas. Besides the stress and time of the commute, you will be missing out on many of the evening offerings of school events.

I think both colleges are on par for education and job placement in the field you’ve selected. Apply to both as a resident instead of commuter and see what type of Financial Aid packages you receive. It is easy at most schools to change from resident to commuter before committing to the school. This method allows you to compare financial packages, not just the stated cost of tuition.

TCNJ for sure.
