Hi, I’m from LA and plan to apply to TCU in the fall.

The social life and TCU seems like it would be fun with the greek life, but i’m not sure if I would have trouble fitting in since I’m not from the south. The “LA culture” is alot different from the “Texas culture”.

If anyone goes to TCU, or knows someone who went to TCU from a city like LA and has any input please shareeeeeeeeeeee.

thanksss.

Interesting choice for someone from LA. I’ll just venture one bit of advice: Go to the football games. Go whether or not you like football. It will give you something to do, in addition to a big dose of the culture.

One more thing: Learn to like or at least tolerate TexMex food. It may be different from what you’re used to, but you won’t make any friends talking about how the Mexican food is better in LA.

Do you go to TCU?

goood adviceee. i definitely need to get more into football if i get in and decide to go there. lol.

How are the parties? The girls in the sororities?

I’m a mom but my kids go to HS about 20 miles from there, so lots of the graduates go to TCU. I don’t know of anyone who has hated it.

Are you asking about the girls in the sororities because you are a girl and want to be in one, or are a boy and want to date sorority girls?

I’m a girl who would want to be in one haha

As a TCU grad and mom of two kids who currently have a few friends attending TCU, I believe that there is a place for everyone at TCU. Back in my day the greek presence was strong on campus, but as an independent I had friends and a social life that included both greeks and non-greeks. I did know plenty of kids who came from out of state and therefore were not part of the “Texas culture”.

If you are interested in attending TCU and specifically want to look into greek life, I would research by looking at TCU’s panhellenic website and maybe even greekchat.com. Some of the sororities seem more open to outsiders, and if you are open-minded yourself you will probably find one where you feel comfortable.

Oh, and the academics at TCU are decent too!

I know an Orange County, Calif girl that goes there and loves it.

okay i will definitely look at that site.
thank uu
