I am curious how time consuming these classes are. I’m waitlisted for TDMV 1 right now and plan to use TDMV 110 to fulfill a GE. About how much time would you say you spend on these classes outside of class? Also, what is TDMV 110 like? Just a harder version of TDMV 1 or are there assignments and/or reading and stuff? Thanks for any input. :)

I took both with Judy Sharpe; both classes had a 5th week quiz on basic vocabulary and movements (obviously more advanced for TDMV 110). For TDMV 1 there’s a two-page critique for a live ballet performance of your choice. For TDMV 110 there’s the same critique (I think we were allowed to expand the scope to any kind of dance, because I made my friend write mine after we watched a modern dance performance) plus a short research essay about 1.5 pages in length (I wrote mine on Nijinsky).

But apart from those two things, absolutely no work required outside of class. If you’ve had any training in the past, just go for TDMV 110, otherwise you’ll be bored to tears. There’s also the option to haul out your old pointe shoes for 110 if you want.

Oh yay! Thank you for the info. And I have very little ballet experience (a few years around age 4) so it will be like new for me
haha
