Teach For America 2012 Corps

Good for you satelle, that’s awesome! I would take both! You have to do something until summer institute! I can’t believe it is only 6 days away! I’m honestly not looking forward to it because I just feel like a rejection is very, very possible :frowning: I think the earlier post about just getting this far means we are special was sweet.

I am just really hoping for this. Applications for grad school are due May 1st, I graduate April 28th and have to have my major and minor content area exams done for teaching. Yucky. I hope tfa really works out. We are all such dedicated, goal setting, achievers!

zettibetti, don’t give up hope. We all still have 6 days, who knows what will happen. You deserve to be a CM. I hope TFA sees that in you and all of us

Satelle, did you just email admissions saying you had a job offer and need early notice? Or did they make you fill out some stuff?

Awww, calijunkie thanks that was sweet  I had a webinar thing for AZ last night and it seems like a great program too. So if tfa doesn’t work, I have that.

Chikvicious are you going to say, “I need early notification.” I was kind of thinking about asking because I need to buy my az plane ticket if I’m not accepted. The closer the day comes, the more expensive it is.

Yeah I am Zettibetti. I’m thinking I"m going to apply for a credential program and the application is due march 6th but I’d have to take some tests this weekend. I’ve pretty much given up hope on TFA.

Hey fellow 4Ders! I’ve been checking this thread to make the waiting game seem less lonely and decided to finally make an account and join the conversation.

My funding status changed to complete today around 11am. I had uploaded the wrong document for one of my 4 pages (I had the first 3 and then reuploaded one of them for the fourth). I didn’t noticed when I applied on the 10th, but I checked on the 27th and realized it. I deleted the duplicate and uploaded the right form then, but I had always had it under review and not incomplete. Now it’s complete, but I’m really unsure about why it never went to incomplete. I hope it’s not a bad sign or anything. I really, really want this, as we all do :)

Good luck to those hearing early! It’ll be our turn soon. Only 6 Days!

zettibetti413 and chikvicious8, I would def try for TFA early notification then. It doesn’t hurt to ask them

Hi teachinghopeful!

Chickvicous and zetti, please don’t give up hope! Be Positive!!
You know I had a couple of interviews for “executive positions” on campus and there were about 40 people waiting for that same interview with me, and I didn’t get accepted to neither job so I really thought: Well, maybe I am just not good interviewing for jobs… and I went to TFA interview with that on mind…
but being able to be part of this program, is everything to me, and of course I was so much happier during TFA interview than any other interview I have ever had… and I just hope they saw that in my eyes…
I am sure both of you think the same way because we have been talking on this thread for sooo many days, so we are almost there…we are all getting in!!!

Thanks everyone, your support means the world to me :)

@zettibetti - If only I could take both positions. Both begin in June!

@chicvicious - I emailed admissions stating I had a job offer and explained my situation in detail. I offered to attach my offer letter, but they did not require it. I’m sure it’s entirely on case by case basis for them.

Everybody - In the past hour, all I’ve been able to think about is either Acceptance or Rejection. I’ve been dreaming about the possibilities of being accepted, working my butt off to take the exams necessary, and being admitted to Summer Institute - I’ve also imagined the possibility of being rejected, and predicting how I am going to react in that situation.

It’s important to remember that opportunity is something that WE create, and we of all individuals have the ability to create it. If any of us are rejected by Teach for America, we will have many other opportunities available to us. Some people do not have that opportunity; specifically, the K-12 kids who we have focused the last 3 months of our lives learning about. Regardless of our outcomes, let’s keep fighting for those kids! :)

Well said Satelle, we need to keep fighting for those kids no matter what outcome we get

I think I’m going to ask because I have to register for tests by a certain day. If I don’t register soon it is a $50 late fee!

Iss there a “like” button?? LOL, I would like to “like” your post 10000 times! So true

Wow a lot happened on here while I was at work!
Good luck to all hearing of acceptance today! I know it will be great news ! Keep us posted.
To the rest of us, we are nearing the finish line! Keep up the positive thoughts!

I emailed about early notification. I know if they say yes I’m just going to take that as I’m rejected so it will be easy for them to just tell me today. I hate that I’m thinking so negatively and I’m not even sure why. Probably because my stupid TF status is still under review. I just want this wait to be over with! Thanks for the encouraging words guys! I appreciate it.

If they say yes chikvicious8 , it could also mean they decided to accept you and it will be easy to tell you their decision :)

Chikvicious, I did the same thing. I am thinking the same thing as you about the negativity and funding status not changing. I just want to know so I can pay for my trip and testing now and not have to pay $200 more!

Thank you everyone for encouragement! I hope we all get in, but that is unlikely!

@chikvicious, I am feeling the same way as you. My TF status has not changed and it’s pretty discouraging, since I submitted it very early on. What credential program are you applying for?

Thanks calijunkie! Supergirl, I applied for transitional funding February 1st! The same day we found out about final interviews so I think my status wouldve been one of te first to change to complete. I’m applying to a few programs at colleges in la. One has a deadline of march 2nd!

I’m in the same situation! I submitted ALL my paperwork February 3. This is soooo discouraging.

Hang in there everybody  Even though the trend of this thread is that completed funding = better likelihood of getting in, remember that this little “study” only has data from about 30 applicants! That isn’t enough for an accurate measurement.

My fingers are crossed for everyone!
