Teacher Comments on Report

How important are teacher comments on reports? Would one/two bad teacher comments be a red flag, even with very strong grades?

Reports? Do you mean teacher comments on report cards or for letters of recommendation?

If it’s report cards, talk to your guidance counselor to see if comments are even part of your official transcript. At my D’s school only final semester grades and test scores were sent to colleges, not the teachers’ comments.

If you mean for Letters of Recommendation, yes it matters. Ask the teachers who know you best and you know will write only positive comments.

If you’re aiming at tippy-top schools, as you say from your other thread, any red flags matter. The overwhelming majority of applicants will also have “very strong” grades. If your school is going to send copies of reports rather than just a transcript (ask them what they usually do for US applications) then the remarks will get noticed.

Teacher comments on report cards. I asked my careers advisor and he said in the past he has sent the whole report but he can send whatever I want him to send.

I think it’d be kinda dodgy to just send a transcript though, if every other applicant in Australia sends a full report? What do you think?
