does anyone know how many?
because i couldnt find that info in the jhu site
it only said students need to turn in teacher recommendation
please, if anyone know, tell me

If I recall correctly, Hopkins only requires one teacher recommendation.

Hopkins requires one guidance/college counselor recommendation and one teacher recommendation – a total of 2 required recs. You may choose to send additional rec letters but they request no more than 4 total. One student last year sent over 40 recs, and it is a running joke in the office.

You can always call the Admissions Office at JHU when you have questions like these. I have actually worked as a student employee for Admissions this past year answering phone calls and e-mails. We are more than willing to answer any questions. Call us 410-516-8171 or e-mail gotojhu@jhu.edu.

is it possible for students to rush their november SAT scores for ED?

cjsathos – i asked your question to one of the counselors and here is the policy:

“Hopkins strongly recommends that Early Decision candidates complete their required standardized tests no later than October of their senior year. Regular Decision candidates should complete required tests no later than December of their senior year. Although we cannot guarantee that November (ED) or December (RD) scores will arrive before the Admissions Committee evaluation, past experience suggests that scores taken on these dates usually arrive in time. November (ED) or December (RD) scores will be accepted for those students unable to meet their test requirements by October (ED) or November (RD). In such cases, we encourage you to note your intention of taking the later standardized test(s) on your application. There is no need to rush your scores.”

so in your case, if you are taking SAT II exams in Nov. you should be fine and don’t need to rush the scores. If you are taking SAT I for the first time then you should make that notation in your application.

hope that helps. good luck

laxfan04: hahah just curious…did the guy with 40 recs get accepted? how does someone get 40 “quality” recs anyway? hahaha he must have been so desperate :]

atlantiz - unfortunately NO…not sure if all the recs were “quality” but he probably sent them in to cover up weaknesses throughout his app.

40 recs? that is going a bit insane. i don’t even think i had that many teachers in the past three years…

laxfan04, thank you for answering the late standarized test question. i was really worried about that.
