Teacher Dares???

Hey,

I need help thinking of some teacher dares for our fundraiser for cancer research.

Do you guys have any ideas??

Maybe this will put your mind off BSs until March 10…

lol

curse at the principal

You’re just hilarious, Senay.

Set up a pieing booth, works every time!

what about…
waxing… their hairy legs…
HAHAH

slow dance with a student (if they’re straight, with the same sex. if they’re gay, with the opposite sex. duh. no pedophilia here)

start doing soulja boy dances… because I bet you they ALL know this

show their talent. sometimes they’re amusing

I am stuck in a doctor’s office with a lot of time to kill. These ideas may not be very good, but I was a teacher for 15+ years, so I thought I’d give this a try.

• Dress like one of your students (one known for his/her personal style)
• Dress-Like-A-Student-Day
• Change places with a student for one school day
• Take the place of a student athlete for a practice/scrimmage
• Do a student’s homework for one night
• Take part in a teacher talent show—students pick your “talent”

sorry, I think I sounded a bit condescending when I said “amusing.” I meant entertaining as in enjoyable to watch, lol.

Teacher-to-Student team sports are somewhat fun, though it may be awkward at first.
Dress-like-a-student day, the person above me would know wayyy better, but from what I know about teachers (I’ve had to talk to them on a VERY regular basis from certain ECs) the dress code is fairly annoying, and they will wear jeans whenever given the chance to. So I bet they’d love to do that one :D

sandwindsun, something tells me that 15+ years teachers also wouldn’t like to do their students’ homework or switch places with them for a day (do their work in classes and have them teach classes)

@sandwindsun- are you an admissions officer or a parent?

Dunk Booth! That’s what we’re doing for our cancer fundraiser this year.

Yes! A dunking booth is an awesome idea - guaranteed to be successful.

Or, you could do what I organized for our Student Council’s fundraiser: Krispy Kreme sale! THAT is something that is 100% guaranteed to succeed astronomically. Plus, it’s easy to make huge profits because Krispy Kreme offers a fundraising discount when you order 2 weeks in advance. A fairly significant one.

RTT and starz27: I am a parent, and I am not in admissions. My child is applying to BS and on CC, so I like to check in to see what is going on. It is interesting to take in your conversations, and it is hard not to jump in. It is better for this to be yours. I enjoy the occasional swoop down by GammaV or sbergman from the Admissions World, and there are some parents with very insightful comments; however, you are—how would Juno say it— forshizz—a very important generation. The way you find, gather and analyze information—well—for many of us in education—we know that this is education evolution. The topic here is your own education, so it makes it even more interesting to see you think aloud with each other and learn with each other, etc.

Anyway…
Since the thread is called “Teacher Dares” and is about fund raising, I wanted to come up with some examples that I thought would be tough for the teachers, but funny for people to watch. Sorry if my ideas are not so great, but I thought I was onto something. :)

People do not want to pay to make things easy on teachers, especially if the fundraiser is based on something being a dare. I loved this kind of stuff when I was in the classroom! My students loved to see me try to do something that was easy for them, but harder for me. It always gets a good laugh…and if it was a good cause…then the laugh had a purpose!

I have sat in the dunk tank several times…many people like that, too!
vk7: Good luck!—this is a good thing to be doing with your time!
