Teacher Rec mismatch?

<p>When I asked for my letters of recommendation from my teachers I was interested in Pre-med and I’m pretty sure they wrote about how I would do in pre-med to some degree.</p>

<p>However, my interests have changed, and I am now applying for an engineering major at a lot of places, and the common app doesn’t let me change the letters sent. Will it matter if there’s a slight mismatch as long as the letters say good things about me that can apply to any field?</p>

If that’s what they wrote about then the letters are borderline useless anyway. Colleges aren’t interested in your HS teachers speculation about how you’ll do in college. An effective letter talks about what you did when they actually knew you, the type of student you were to teach, the contributions you made to the class and your fellow students, etc.</p>
