Teacher Rec. Professor Says I Have a B In Class

Ok, I want some insight on this interesting little predicament.

I am currently a Sophomore and am trying to transfer to NYU Gallatin in Spring 2008.

My stats:

HS: 3.02
SATs: 1400/2400
HS ECs: Piano lessons, Debs and Phils volunteer work, private art lessons, Rake Up Boise.

College GPA: 3.81 (weighted) 31 credits complete
College: Boise State - Honors College

In progress: 14 credits. Writing Center 417, English 303, History 312, History 211 (Honors), Geology 101 (Honors).

ECs: Work experience, Writing Center tutor, SWIMBA trail reporter.

Awards: Deans List – Spring 2007.

Predicament: The professor that I asked to write my recommendation was my English 303 professor. I have been talking to him and he says that my work is very sharp, well thought out and on its way to getting even better. However, currently I have a “rising B” in his class. I noticed on the NYU application, there is a section for “Student’s grade in this class:____”

Of course this got me worried. I spoke with him about it and he said that he is sure that I will be awarded an A by the end of the semester for my work. He obviously has to write the grade that I have, so what are anyone’s thoughts of this? Will this be a downer for my app?

At the same time, this class is filled with grad students and upper-division students, I am by far the youngest student intellectually and age-wise.

Anyone? This is bothering me quite a bit…

Can he write a footnote on the fact that you’re the youngest and one of the smartest in the class and you should recieve an A by the end of the semester?

I am hoping he will add something like that in the description of myself as a student…

wait, is this a mid semester grade report…or an actual recommendation for nyu?

if its just a report, dont stress. i transferred to Cornell with 2 "B"s on it. not a problem, all the matters grade wise is the gpa obviously.

It is a recommendation for NYU. On my prof’s rec form, it says that he should specify what grade I have in the class to date. The grade is NOT official though, we are just now getting to mid semester. We have not even gotten into the big projects yet.

Ah, good news. He just sent me an email saying that they should tell from his writing that he is not concerned about the grade. He also said that he would go back through and be more explicit about it.

Hey ianjt, I just wanted to say HELLO and good luck! I remember talking to you about NYU earlier this year… Time flies! :)

Feel free to PM me if you have any additional questions regarding NYU Admissions.

Hey! Thanks for stopping in. Are you there?

Am I where lol? NYU? No, I ended up transferring to Hopkins. :)
