Teacher's pets and kiss-ups.

AnonPerson1 - That’s annoying. I’m sorry to hear that. English tends to be one of the more subjective classes. I guess I’m lucky that I’ve had really great English teachers throughout high school who grade independently of individual feelings. But then again, some guys have been claiming that girls always do better in English, but who’s to say that’s the teacher’s fault? xP

ChaosTheory - Well, sometimes being the scapegoat could be a positive thing. Hey, at least you’re more than just another nameless face in the class!

teachers pets **** me off… just to let everyone know.
not that my teachers hate me or anything cause they don’t… but people just suck upppp… AAAHHH… wanna freaking throw them out the window… haha, i wouldn’t actually do that , but they bother me

Yeah, I don’t like it when people blatantly suck-up either. There’s this really obnoxious guy in my history class who has managed to worm his way into all the history teachers’ hearts, even though he’s a jerk outside the classroom.

But then again, there are also people who end up being the favorites without having put any conscious effort into it.

I hate teachers’ pets too. So annoying. One girl in my English class sits in the front and asks questions as if its her own personal class - just blurts things out all the time as if the teacher is addressing ONLY her.

And sadly, even with years of experience, teachers often succumb to the illusion created by these wily masterminds. :D

19382 - Ugh. I feel the same way. Some people make a habit of blurting out answers and questions whenever the mood strikes them, and to me, it just seems downright disrespectful, since they sometimes do it while the teacher’s talking

I’m surprised your teacher doesn’t find this annoying, though.

Oh she does, but this girl just doesn’t take hints.

Last year in APUSH, EVERY time my teacher asked a question this girl (different girl) would raise her hand, even if she had NO IDEA. She’d just go, “Wait, what?” or “It’s coming to me!” if she had no answer. Teacher got kind of annoyed, but for some reason teachers’ pets don’t seem to get it. She thought the teacher was only addressing her or something. AHH SO ANNOYING!

Most teachers, that is, the friendly and buddy-buddy ones, hate me with a passion. It’s always the strict, old ones that seem to like me.

I’ve found teachers really either like really big jocks, or really big nerds.

I do my work, I participate in class when I’ve got something to say, and no, I don’t care if you go to my freaking soccer game, and I’m not going to write it in huge letters on the chalkboard RIDGEMORE VS. CEDAR LANE BE THERE!!!, and quite honestly I really don’t care at all if you’re involved in my personal life and like me. And then simultaneously I don’t ALWAYS raise my hand even when I don’t have anything to say, and I don’t write 400 billion pages on subjects that don’t interest me just to make triple sure I’ve got an A.

So I fail on both accounts.

Most teachers like me.

My secret? Im nice… I listen to them and try to remember their birthdays. Just bringing up things or asking about topics to show you are paying attention and smileing work wonders. Some teachers hate that, but those are generally the ones that hate everyone anyway…

:) Perks so far include:
Chocolate!
Extra time to do assignments
leaving class early to go to another class and work
special projects
better recomendations

I get along great with my teachers that i respect. I talk to them and have interesting arguments with them. As a result they like me because i show that i am not an idiot. The teachers that i dislike i just sit in their class quietly and do fine without making them like me.

I’m kind of a teacher’s pet, not really on purpose though. I know my history teacher well because he was my moderator for model un last year. i talk a lot in his class(well, all classes for that matter). then again, i also say kind of non-sensical things and he calls me “crackhead.” lol. I always answer question in chem. I talk a bunch in English and I talk to my teacher in homeroom, she has me do chores for her, etc. I knew my religion teacher last year because she was co-moderator of Model UN. And I’m usually the first person to math class so he likes me a lot even though im pretty weak in that class. He never has me go up to the board like most other people.

I’m pretty smart and I have an excellent memory. But I’m lazy as anything. I’m one of those straight A students who doesn’t study and does just enough work to get by.
Some teachers love me because I’m so passionate in class discussions and I have a good sense of humor.
Some hate me because I don’t do any of their homework assignments, sleep in class, and don’t take notes…and then ace their tests. Others hate me because I’m kind of an intellectual snob. Some are scared stiff because they are worried I’ll expose them as the idiots that they are.

You know, the usual.

I’m the type that teachers love to hate.

As an example, I scored highest in the class on an essay where I insulted the teacher for the entirety of a body paragraph and had ended mid-sentence in the following paragraph since I ran out of time writing during Lunch period.

Teachers love to hate, or students love to hate?

Teachers. I’m well-liked among my peers, partly for my antics.

My teachers like me partially because I’m a class clown – well, a class clown who likes math and physics.

Your mom’s so fat, her Laplace transform diverges!
You look skinnier, have you gained weight?

Sometimes, it’s actually more difficult if your teachers like you. I’m in a very small class for AP Chem, and I get on pretty well with the teacher. She was talking to me about the free-response questions from the most recent test, and she told me that she grades my responses more critically than usual. Higher achievement and higher expectations can be a bit of a two-edged sword.

I’ve never thought of it that way, kcarls. The way I usually think of it is that if a teacher likes me, then I’ll have to be very careful in their class so as not to make them think less of me. Whenever I get an unusually low grade in a class, I always worry that the teacher thinks I’m stupid, whether the teacher likes me or not. (It obviously bothers me more if the teacher likes me.)

Haha. Teachers like me because I make for good conversation, I’m normally polite, and I honestly want to learn. I guess I could be called a teacher’s pet, but my teachers at least aren’t normal or something. For History, for example, my teacher “holds me to higher standards,” which got me a 92 on a presentation (well prepared, well delivered), while the class slackers, who completely bs-ed theirs, got 97.

I’m flattered that she thinks so much of me, but oh lord, my gpa!

Haha, I wish I could think like that. I get 77’s on writing assignments and I have a 90 in English because I’m that good. :D:p
