A friend and I are casting about for something we can do as retirement jobs. She was an education major years ago but lacks a master’s degree. She isn’t currently certified to teach. She’s been in banking for two decades. I was wondering if she could take a class to get certified to teach English as a second language to adults. Does anybody know about that? She doesn’t want to live abroad, she wants to do it here in the U.S. Any info or advice would be appreciated!

She should check out the programs at Shenandoah University [Shenandoah University : TESOL](http://www.su.edu/education/5CEB469589CF488781970E4AAE0E4950.asp?CFID=374369&CFTOKEN=90708994) The certificate programs can be completed entirely online, and the MS Ed Tesol only requires one visit to campus to defend the thesis or present the final project.

For more ideas, she should visit [TESOL - Home Page](http://tesol.org/s_tesol/index.asp) the website of the professional association.

Good luck to her!
