Oh yes, McDonalds sells treat coupons that you can buy and hand out. They can be redeemed there for fries, cone, drink, etc. I’ve given those sometimes. I’ve given out small bags of pretzels.
As the parent of a nut allergic kid, we taught her (and her siblings) not to accept food treats that weren’t labeled (so sad because one house always had the best looking candy apples and popcorn balls…) and that no candy was to be eaten before mom or dad could sort it. Kinda sad…I remember eating a few treats while trick or treating when I was a kid. But when the choice is no trick or treating because the rules are too restrictive, or abiding by them and staying safe…my kids understood the reason behind it. Might have looked paranoid to some, but totally it was totally necessary in our experience. As s result of our experience, I won’t hand out anything that isn’t wrapped, and I’ll have a nut free alternative as well. In recent years I’ve had pencils and bouncy balls too.
Just to be clear, my paranoia comment was directed to people who think the unwrapped candy is being poisoned or something. Obviously, children and parents with food allergies have a very good reason not to accept uncovered, unlabeled food.
Gotcha @romanigypsyeyes . Although, beyond the confines of my immediate circle…not quite sure I trust unwrapped goods. Have you seen how many people leave the restroom without washing their hands? LOL…kinda
Ok that’s fair! lol
