Team gift for coach

Okay, a favorite volleyball coach is leaving. The girls want to give him a special gift at the end -of -the -year sports banquet. Something more meaningful than the personalized t-shirts, signed photo, etc.

Anyone have any great ideas? They’d like it to be something that doesn’t turn into a dust collector.

Our team just gave the coach a really nice digital picture frame and a pen drive containing a copy of the season’s slide show(they collected all of the parent’s photos of the kids…candids and action…and set them to music). They figured the coach could load this or his own personal pics.

Most of the teams at the local HS make a Memory Book and have it printed and bound. Each girl makes her own individual page and then there are team pages of things they did throughout the year…teacher appreciation, action photos, team photo, coaches page, on the road bus trips, playoff photos, pasta dinners, etc.

We’re practical and give coaches gift cards to either local sports store or a fancy-ish restaurant.

We always gave pictures from the season and a gift card to a fancy restaurant. Some of the airport pictures were priceless.

We have done iPod shuffles…iPod Nanos…
we have done digital picture frames…
we have done really nice sheepskin slippers from LL Bean…
we did a necklace for one coach…

Speaking as the wife of a coach who just cleaned out 10 years of gifts from teams, don’t give things that take up space, have to be displayed or wall mounted. There is only so much room for these things. I love the idea of the digital picture frame with pics from the team

I vote for a gift certificate to a great restaurant–no clutter and no mess.
