Team StarKid

Probably not all too kosher for me to really bring this up, but the curiosity has been eating at me for a while. I’ve seen enough questionable usernames and comments.

Who else here has already, is planning to, or is in the process of applying to University of Michigan, Ann Arbor … because of the influence of Team StarKid?

I can’t forget the fact that U of M is in and of itself a brilliant school and that it objectively produces wonderful people. However, the fact remains that I never would have considered applying had it not been for the couple dozen wacky kids that comprise the theater troupe that is currently touring the east and midwest of the North American continent. I would be from out-of-state, and thus, getting financial aid would be a tricky process in and of itself. I’d also probably freeze to death, since I’m used to the dry-and-hot desert weather of the southwest. Still applying though.

Team Starkids (A Very Potter Musical) raised the profile of the theatre program at UofM - I’m sure it has boosted the number of students auditioning and applying. Keep in mind that Team Starkid is no longer at UofM, but the program that attracted and developed that talent is still there. A more important reason to consider Michigan is the steady stream of grads now performing on Broadway and elsewhere. It’s been a top school for a while - but Team Starkid did a great job getting the word out.
