#TEAMUCDavis2012 Acceptance Thread

@ Eric03: I know it’s a lot easier than the CHE 118 series, which is what I’m currently taking.

@ JNTHNL: there’s no lab for 8A. 8B has a lab, but 8A doesn’t. It’s the same for what I’m taking, CHE 118A–there’s no lab until I take 118B+C.

So who went to Decision Davis? What’d you think of the school/town?

Personally, I loved it and already miss it

Went there with my sis. Loved the campus, it was huge! I had a really sweet tour guide and I think the majority of the students i saw were welcoming and friendly. Everyone seemed laidback and down to earth. I got completely lost and a girl took me to exactly where I needed to go. This helped my anxiety about making friends next fall! Only neg was the weather i was boiling!

Hey everyone, just wanted your feedback. What kind of GPA is it going to take to get into the school of biological sciences for fall '13? I’ve attended another UC before (1.5 GPA) and currently am at a JC with a 3.36 GPA. I’ll have all my pre-reqs except for O-Chem completed…no IGETC or TAG. I think it’s looking a little grim lol, thanks guys.

I know people who got into college of bio sci with. 3.2 with no tag, but they had almost all pre reqs done

@Bay I just applied there and got on the waiting list. I had a 3.2 GPA but had a weird academic history, military veteran, and every pre req done or in progress on assist except for ochem. I would try to get your Gpa a tad higher around 3.4-3.5 if possible. Good luck!

@MD I hope you get in, i’ll keep my fingers crossed! Thanks for the input JNT. So when I apply to Davis this fall are they looking at my GPA up to Spring '12 semester or are they looking at Fall '12 as well?

they will look at everything up to your fall 2012 which you update later on i think in january. stay strong and keep going and take summer and winter courses. pretty much get as many prereqs done and why don’t you try tagging?? if it makes you feel better my friend has a 3.0 and got accepted and she was missing ochem as well -__- don’t know how she got in but i got waitlisted lol

Does anyone know if UC Davis counselors are willing to meet with potential transfers in person? I’d really like to drive up to the campus and meet with them as the counselors at my JC really don’t seem to know what they’re talking about.

Just for the record UC Davis > UCLA

@ BayKid: they’re willing to meet with anyone. :)

Then why are you going to UCLA?

Is there a number that I could dial to speak with a counselor? I completed 2/3 of my bio classes at PCC. I’m wondering if Davis will make me retake the whole sequence or just that last missing class.

@ Eric: when I transferred in with part of my Bio sequence done, they let me finish the missing classes (however, I did have to submit transcripts to the person responsible for handling enrollment issues (this person is not the professor nor does the person work in the Admissions Office, but usually a lab assistant or staff asked to help out on the first few days with handling enrollment stuff) within the class to prove that I had taken a course equivalent to the former class in the Bio sequence). I’m in BIS 2C now, and a lot of my classmates took the equivalent of BIS 2AB at their JC.

@sopranokitty: That’s good to hear. It would be such a pain to retake everything again. I’m checking assist and it looks like I completed the UC Davis equivalent of BIOLSCI 2B and 2C, which is BIOL 1A and 1B at PCC. I’m missing Biol 1C.

The articulation goes like this:

BIS 2A = Biol 1B & 1C
BIS 2B = Biol 1A & 1B
BIS 2C = Biol 1A

I’m assuming I only need to take BIS 2A to complete the series, so I registered to take the class at Davis this summer. I’m not sure if this is correct because I’m basing everything off of assist.

Anyone else’s transcript still showing as not yet received?

does anyone know what the least impacted biology major at davis is?
