At this point, assuming Gronk is not back in time for their opener, none of the Patriots’ top 5 receivers from 2012 will be on the field to start the season.

Crazy.

Crazy.

wow, Hernandez charged with murder

Tebow makes the cut to 75. I have my fingers crossed he can make it to 53.

Hey, Jeff Tuel is starting at Buffalo. Last year, he wasn’t even the best quarterback at Washington State (which went 3-9).

Buffalo signed Leinart, I’m surprised he isn’t getting the start.

Tebow has shown nothing so far in camp. I think he will be a waste of a roster spot if he makes the final 53, but…

In Bill We Trust.

I’d like to see him make it and deliver some positive contribution.

Based on what I’ve seen so far, I think the odds are long. We’ll see what happens against the Giants this week.

Belichik isn’t a dumb guy. Just dourly stone faced. But not dumb.

He’s only that way to the press, so that’s all most people see.

But if you catch any of the video when he’s not just talking to ignorant reporters, you’ll see he actually has a sense of humor and is a fun guy to be around. He and Jon Bon Jovi are best buds.

We need to separate Tebow the great religious and moral person from Tebow the lousy football player. Being a good person does not make one a good athlete.

All he does is win!

[Ten theories on why Tim Tebow is with the Patriots - Boston Sports Blog - Boston.com](http://www.boston.com/sports/columnists/wilbur/2013/08/how_to_solve_th.html)

^^I’d go with stick it to the Jets, and make them pay $1.5 million of Tebow’s salary. Belichik was annoyed to begin with when his assistant, Mangini, defected to take the Jets head coaching job, then went over the moon when Mangenius busted him on the surreptitious video taping of the Jets–Spygate. The Patriot’s had to pay $750,000 in fines, so this more than compensates them. Any pure football reason to have Tebow is a mystery.

Final cuts by tomorrow, Saturday, 8-31, 6pm.

I don’t care about Tebow fandom but I am sick of listening to talk about the possible 3rd string QB, a guy who likely would never play a down unless Brady gets hurt and maybe not even then.

Last night, the actual backup Mallett was asked 4 questions at his post game press conference: the first 2 were about his backup Tebow. As Scott Zolak, the Patriots’ color man and 9 year NFL backup QB said, “if I were Mallett, I’d be ****ed.”

Today, while stuck in the horrendous move-in/student/clueless driver traffic, I heard Mike Salk of WEEI waste most of an hour - I flipped in and out - talking about how he’d like to see Tebow used if he’s on the team and if at some point he plays and if at some point he plays in some regular manner. This is the possible 3rd string QB.

I don’t want to listen to this crap all season.

It would be pretty disappointing if Belichick puts a desire to screw the Jets ahead of the good of the team.

^That’s how things work. Payback is always sweet.

Belichick remains a true innovator. This year, he might very well try a 52 men roster by keeping a third string QB who could not hit the wide side of a barn twice in a row.

I honestly never thought Belichick was going to use him as QB, I figured he’d rework him and see him if he could mold him into a moderately decent WR/TE and if not cut losses and run. Tebow is just not NFL QB material, he was great in college and no one can take that away from him. But his mechanics and playing style just aren’t conducive to the NFL. I really hope NE is last stop on the Tebow love express and when he bombs out here we never have to hear about him again.

^ hard for him as a 3rd string QB to bomb because he will probably never see the field. I agree that he is not a NFL QB…can’t throw. Not sure what Belichick is doing.

It’s one thing to screw with the Jets, but it would be particularly cold to screw them by messing with other people’s careers, who are more or less innocent bystanders.

It’s looking like they are not going to put Gronk on the P.U.P, but will keep him on the roster. So for some number of weeks they would essentially have only 51 on roster if they keep Tebow. That’s cutting-off-your-nose-to-spite-your-face territory.

Per Adam Schefter at NFL Network, Tebow was cut before 11AM Saturday.

Now I suppose the airwaves will be full of what if the Patriots kept him talk for the next week.

Yeah, just heard of Tebow’s release on ESPN Gameday. He’ll land on his feet somewhere doing something productive.

I doubt it.

They took a close look and decided to pass on him. That’s just what happens in jobs where what you do matters a lot. I didn’t see much “talent” from him during the time I watched.

The guy who is tearing it up right now is Matt Simms with the Jets. I’ll be interested to see what they do with him because McElroy, the 3rd stringer from last year has been hurt and unable to show what he could do. If the Jets release Simms, someone else will take him based on what he’s shown in the past two games, IMO.
