Tebow will be busy running the profitable business of being Tebow. I could imagine a reality show.

Jets, continued laughing stock (full disclosure: diehard Giants fan), are the only team not to have named a starting QB. With their luck, Simms will turn out to be a Russell Wilson, but somewhere else.

It’s interesting to watch the decisions, but I really hate today. It’s so sad to see people’s careers ending. That’s the nature of any sport, but I’ll be glad when that part is over.

As far as Tebow goes, he’ll find a productive job where his true skill set can be used and appreciated.

I really thought Pats would keep Tebow as 3rd backup QB on 53 man roster this season. Will team go with just 2 QBs on team…most NFL teams still carry a 3rd QB on full 53 man roster…with 2 QBs on their 45 man active roster.

That happened years ago with another former Louisville QB. Had some Greek name, if I recall, but it was the steelers who cut him (and he was a hometown kid to them too).

The active roster is 46 players, it got bumped a few years ago when they dropped the 3rd string emergency quarterback rule.

I think most teams only put 2 qbs on their 46-man active roster… if both go down there is usually a running back or someone else with a little QB experience that can hand off for the rest of the game.

Having only 2 qbs on the 53-man roster can make sense… if you get down to the 3rd string qb you are pretty screwed anyway; you can pick someone up during the week and get enough of an offense worked out to play the next game. Having that extra non-qb on the roster can give you some added flexibility.

The 49ers just kept as their #3 QB, rookie B.J. Daniels from my alma mater, Univ. of South Florida. B.J. is only about 5’ 10" tall but he is strong as an ox, he can throw, and he can run too…He makes sense as a multi-purpose QB in backfield who can do some damage. Congrats B.J. on making 49ers’ roster as a QB!
