tech prep vs. college prep diploma

if i want to go to an art school, would it be better for me to have a college prep diploma or will i be ok with a technical prep diploma? with the tech diploma i get to take more information technology and graphic communication classes. While if i’m on college prep i will end up without those classes and stuck with my senior math and science classes.

Are there any art schools that specify a certain type of diploma or do most art school not care as long as you at least have a diploma.

quick answers would be good, i have till monday to decide.

if anyone has any input that would be good…

If your future career is art-related (I’m assuming it is since you’re going to art school) then the tech diploma would help you more than the college prep.

I don’t understand your question about art school requiring a certain type of diploma. From what I’ve seen, in their programs, they dedicate most of their classes to studio classes or those relating to your major and have some compulsory liberal art classes that you have to take (english, math, science).

thanks. now i have a good idea of what i want to do.
i will continue to take the IT and graphic classes on the tech diploma.

do you think i can survive a year with out taking another math and science class?

Survive?

I’m not sure I’m quite getting your dilemma. lol.

Yes, I think you can survive. Math and science skills are good building blocks and are useful in the art world but when it comes to an art career, anything relating to art is probably more valuable to you moreso than the math/science class (of course if you’re going to architecture, it’s probably a different story)…

I myself haven’t taken math in about two years and science in three and I do in some ways regret doing that. But when you’re faced with the decision of either taking those classes to art classes (that would most likely help you more in your chosen career) then you have to sacrifice it.
