I just passed the Zend PHP 5 Certification test, an exam that determines your competency in the PHP 5 programming language. Where should I include this on my application? It seems more like a “test” than an “award” but there’s no place to add this kind of stuff on the CommonApp Tests pane. I could fax admissions offices the score report that includes information to authenticate the score report.

Also, I already applied to Brown and Case Western Reserve. Should I fax them a copy so they can consider it too?

bumpity bump bump… bump bump

anyone have any input? any at all?

Hey there Jack. You clarified the Josiah thing on the Brown forum for me, so here I am clarifying your question about the Zend PHP 5 cert.

No, don’t send this certification info to Brown…just yet. It’s helpful to know, and could be added info to them if you get deferred, but save it. If you can ‘find’ a related EC area, then there’s a place to add the certification info; it’s in that top right corner. My son was able to mention his EC and list his EMT certification. So what’s Zend PHP 5?

Thanks for the response!

PHP 5 is a programming language used predominantly on the web, and Zend is the company that develops it. PHP 5 is integral to my number one extracurricular, an online community website that I own and programmed from scratch. Actually, on that countdown in the Brown forum, I used PHP for the random phrases.

As I understand it, Brown University is actively trying to expand their Computer Science department. Because I applied with my primary interest as Computer Science, I had to write an additional essay about it and would have mentioned the certification there but I didn’t become certified until just yesterday.

I feel like it would really strengthen my application but I’m not really sure how I should tell them after my application has already been submitted.

What if I just sent them a quick e-mail letting them know and asking if it could be reflecting in my file? I can also offer to fax them the score report w/ instructions for validation if they want.

could be reflected*

I really need to proofread my posts.
